They are both in Scouts, baseball, and their age appropriate Sunday Schools and youth groups at church. Plus, whatever activities the school does, I'm there helping so they are there too...lol

I'm always at the school it seems. Between being a PTO officer and being at all their functions, I feel like I should work there...lol

Your kids are lucky to have such a good mom.

If you ask them, I'm sure they will tell you I am not a good mom

Seriously I enjoy it! I love going to the school and having the other little kids know who I am. It is such a treat to know they recognize you as the lady who gave away the free books (RIF) or whatever we are doing at the time.

Re: What extracircular activities are your kids in?

Right now it's just sports. My DD did take dance for a short while 'til she decided to go back to sports. I am in the process of signing both up for scouts. To do so for my DD, I have to be a troop leader. There is a very long list of girls wanting to be in girl scouts around here but not enough troops so instead of her having to wait for an opening, me and one of her classmate's mom decided to co-lead a troop for them. I'm sure me or DH will be highly involved in our DS' troop as well. DH almost always coaches our kids teams.

And I forgot to add that I or DH or both are at every school function as well. We feel it's just as important to be apart of their educations as it is their extra curricular activities. And I too love how the kids all know me and seem to enjoy having me there!

isn't it great to be known as .......'s mom?? i have only gone to school twice but it was such a great experience i can't wait to go again!

Logan is in piano right now, soccer in the spring and probably hockey next year, i'm going to enjoy one more year before chaos takes over!

Chaos stinks, Andrea

Kel was in ballet, tap and gymnastics but when she started kindergarten it was to much for her this year. And she was totally alright with downsizing. She'd rather do stuff with her friends. She is an honorary cub scout too She does everything with them. When she is 12 or 13 she can join for real (seriously.....but I don't know why a girl should be allowed to be a boy scout?)

I wish we could get Ally into the things she is interested in, but it just costs too much around here. *sigh* But then again, what doesn't?

Re: What extracircular activities are your kids in?

My 10 year old dd is in dance (tap, ballet, hip hop, and jazz) and in karate (currently a purple advanced belt). She was on the 4th grade eco team at school, but that is over now. She loved that and I can see her joining the scholastic bowl in the 6th grade.

My 14 year old son is in Boy Scouts (looking at getting his Eagle Scout within a year and a half, I believe.) He is also in karate (just became a Junior Black Belt a month ago. He is in Scholastic Bowl at the high school, and he is talking about joining cross-country or track in the spring. I can never remember which is the fall sport and which is the spring sport.

My 17 year old dd used to be in activities - sports and pom poms. She slowly quit everything as she became older and got a job, a serious boyfriend, and going to college part time her senior year.

My kids like to be busy, and I don't mind as long as they can handle it and I can handle it. Karate is 2 blocks from the house so the kids can get themselves to and from there when the weather is good. DD's dance used to be 2 blocks from our house, as well, but her teacher moved 6 miles down the road to another town. So, now she needs someone to take her.

Life is good!

I don't have kids yet. But i would advice your kids to take part in competition in school. Can go for dance class or drawing class. Normally girls like to dance than boys. For boys, one can go for sports class.
