pre-school "computers"

Do any of you have a kids' "First computer" type of thing? I am looking at one for Lauren and Possibly Ryan (maybe more of a leap frog one for him) for Christmas and wondered if any of you had reviews, preferrences, urges to throw certain ones out the window... etc.

Last year MIL got the kids each a vsmile system. I would like to launch them off a skyscraper, if you KWIM.

I just wondered if anyone found one they really liked! TIA!

I actually like the Vsmiles, but with us they don't last long!

Re: pre-school "computers"

The Leap Pads are great, but each kind takes it's own different cartridge. So you have to keep buying new kinds of "pads" and games until they get to the actual Leap Pad. But once they do, it's great!

Re: pre-school "computers"

We have the Leapster video games. My dd used to play with hers constantly, now she barely plays with it and we have dozens of games for it. I let my dd play games on educational websites on my computer, although, I have paid the price for that. Supposedly, Amazon is coming out with $100 regular computers on Nov. You might want to wait and look into that instead of a preschool computer as it will last longer (intellectually) for them and there are literally tons of educational websites out there these days instead of buying all those individual games.

Thanks for the heads up! I will look into that in November.

My kiddos really want to get to my computer and pound on it. So, I'm looking for more of a computer-type thing so they can learn to use one correctly w/o damaging mine.
