Avalanche! Early voting at record pace

With 12 days to go until Nov. 4, Americans are casting early ballots at a record pace.

Have you voted yet? I always early vote. My polling station is in an out of the way inconvenient place and the old fart contingent uses voting as social hour. It takes forever when you get stuck behind a bunch of oldsters who just want to chat. There was no one there when we voted. We were in and out in 10 minutes. Now that's more like it!

Nope, I won't vote until the 4th. But my polling place is the clubhouse in my subdivision. I'll go right after the kids go to school - it's usually pretty empty by 830 or 9.

Nope..I'm waiting for Nov 4. Since Wright City is smaller than the other communities around us it usually doesn't take that long to vote...at least for other elections it hasn't taken me long to get there and vote. I was in and out in about 5 minutes.

Not registered yet. But I'm not surprised it's so popular. This is a major decision for us Americans, probably more so than past presidential elections.

Can you register this late?? I always vote early, it's too crowded on the 4th.. It was actually crowded for early voting here....

I think just more people are voting this year. Which is wonderful! Democracy fails when people don't vote.

Re: Avalanche! Early voting at record pace

I don't know about Ohio, but some states let you register and vote on the same day even on election day. I think my state it is one month before any election. I always register as soon as I move. I never leave that sort of thing to chance.

I am wondering how this will affect others running for office. Our governor is up for reelection, for example. I keep getting all these flyers in the mail. It makes me want to call their campaign headquarters and say, "hey don't bother. I already voted." My mailbox has been full everyday with campaign ads. But actually it does work. When the office is some small thing (liked Sec. of Agriculture in my state), I do pay attention to those ads. Sometimes, it's the only way I know whose running.

I go online to see who is running and what they are all about. If I run across and election where I don't know either candidate, I won't vote. I refuse to vote for someone I don't know anythign about.

I didn't realize you could vote early other than by absenty (sp?) ballot. I don't know if that have that in our area.

I will be voting in about an hour.
