Re: Obama becomes first black president in landslide

Why do you all hate him so? This is a question to ponder in the quietness of your soul not to be answered here. Your hate is more destructive to you than it is to him. Let it go. It's not worth it.

Has venting on me made you feel better? If so, I am glad. Be well.

Re: Obama becomes first black president in landslide

I don't hate the man. I don't know him to say if like or dislike the man. All we know is what we see on tv and during election time....well that isn't enough for me to go by. I do think people have a right to be concerned with the way this country is going. Frankly, there is a lot of stuff to over come and I don't think it is all going to even begin to be accomplished in one term.

like I said, i didn't like either one and was very disappointed we have to chose between those two. I don't know if there was ever an election that I was so totally against either candidate.

BUT I do not think that this world has even become to conquer racism I seriously worry about some whacko trying to hurt his kids. It is frightening to have those thoughts because if I have them then that lets me know we are no where near to being where we need to be.
Heck, kids can't even go to school today without getting picked on for what kind of jeans they have on and we think racism is over (heck some kid in the local high school just got beat up because someone said he was short)? NO WAY. It is sad, very sad that racism is still an issue in today's society but it is.

Re: Obama becomes first black president in landslide

I never said I hated Obama because I don't. I simply seriously disagree with most of his policies and stances on issues. And to say racism is dead is being a little naive. As someone said, the fact that it is continuously brought up shows that it isn't dead. If anything, constantly saying that we have now elected our first black President is only furthering the issue of racism and the racial division of our country.

I'm sure that was directed at me. I do not hate Obama...as a matter of fact I pray for him-for wisdom and strength. I am not being sarcastic.

Re: Obama becomes first black president in landslide

Racism isn't dead, but our country is not nation made up entirely of racists. I think the rest of the world did think every single last one of us was a racist. We have finally proved that not every single last one of us is a racist. In fact, most of us are not racists.

I do fear for him and his family. I hear people calling him the AntiChrist around here and I read everyday that gun sales of high powered assult weapons are way up. That does scare me. People who call themselves very religious are saying some very scary things in my neck of the woods. I don't think this is entirely because he is black. They aren't acting threatening towards (ultra conservative) Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. I think it is because he is black and he's liberal.

I think he may be another John F. Kennedy and look what happened to John F. Kennedy!

Some of these people are off in the head, scared spitless their ultra conservative agenda (which probably wasn't helping them politically anyway. Is anyone not in the oil industry doing well after 8 years of Bush?) may be going out the window, and they have guns. Lots of guns. Very scary.

No, it wasn't directed at you. No one here seems to like Obama but me and his faith seems to be the reason.

Re: Obama becomes first black president in landslide

Lenora, I don't hate anyone, not even Faye, if you can believe it! My beliefs and my faith cannot be separated. My faith is a major part of my value system, it's that simple, and I don't think that Obama and I have the same values. That's it, bottom line.
As for the surge in the purchase of guns, maybe I am naive, but I really think a lot of people are afraid that Obama is going to take away or seriously limit our second amendment rights. I am a gun totin' Southern girl myself, and I am pretty attached to my guns (and my religion!), and I have thought seriously about making some purchases in the near future, just in case the laws get changed. But I promise you, my purchases, if I make any, won't be so that I can hurt anyone unless it's in protection of my family or myself.

Re: Obama becomes first black president in landslide

Oh Tammy my husband is thinking of making some purchases too. We have tons of hunting guns, Christian is getting one for Christmas and we have a .9 mil. Last I heard he wanted to tax ammunition up to 600%. Um for the people who depend on small game and deer during hunting season, do you honestly think they could afford to pay for the ammunition?? I know I won't be able too.

And before anyone asks....yes all our guns are locked up and hell I don't know where the key is...LOL. the 9 mil is in it's own locked case inside another locked case. and I think Den has the keys with him ALL the time. They are ONLY used for hunting and target practice.

I don't want that right taken away. And frankly even if there were no more guns, just as many people would die....I think they would just be more awful. If someone wants to kill someone they will do it, gun or no gun.
