clothing question

Ok, here's the thing. My underwear still fit, but during the day I notice that the front comes down and the elastic sits right on the top of my pubic hair line. It itches a lot. I need to buy new underwear, but don't want to spend money and have the same problem. Does anyone have suggestions or experience? It seems like an odd question to me, but whatever.

Thanks in advance.

Re: clothing question

If your underwear is sliding down during the day it probably doesn't fit, just the elastic is tight and hasn't stretched when you first put them on. I still haven't had to purchase maternity underwear but my boobs have gotten a whole cup size bigger (sarcastic yay). The store Motherhood Maternity has very affordable prices and I really like Mimi Maternity which is their mid level branch, A Pea in the Pod is their high level store.

Good luck with the underwear problem!

Re: clothing question

The other thing mybe the style you are wearing, if you are wearing the bikini style brief it will never stay up. In fact it may never stay up properly again I never bought maternity underwear, last time I was pregnant was 17 years ago tho and I don't think they even made it . We just went up a size (or three, I was carrying twins ) and bought the "grandma knickers" otherwise known as high waisted.

I would get at least 3 pair of comfortable knickers, maternity or otherwise, you still have a way to go and uncomfortable underwear is just going to make you miserable, and you will be able to wear it after baby's born (if they have an expandible waistline like maternity pants do). It is going to take a little while to get back into shape even if movie stars can get their figures back in 6 weeks, even after having twins. Mind you you may have a personal trainer, a private chef, a nanny or 3 and a complete houselot of maids and cleaners to help If so, half your luck

Back to underwear, you need to be comfortable, so go and get advice from a maternity wear shop, then see if you can find the same thing a lot cheaper in a department store.

good luck Hun, you need to be comfortable.

Re: clothing question

I agree with Becca. Exactly why I don't wear undies....it is a pain in the ass-literally! I can never get it to fit just right so it either rides up my ass or is uncomfortable around my legs. During that time of the month I wear cotton boy shorts but those are still a PITA cuz they bunch up under your pants.

Re: clothing question

Thanks for the input. I do wear bikini style, so I'll try the 'grandma' panties. I'm sure DH will be thrilled I'm a complete cheapskate, so I'll probably find out info at a maternity store and then go to Target.

I bought maternity underwear at Motherhood, and it was well worth it! I didn't do this with my first pregnancy, and I dealt with the same problem you are describing. With my second pregnancy, I bought maternity underwear, and they were so comfortable that it made me wish I had bought them when I was pregnant the first time.

Re: clothing question

I bought cheap cotton granny undies from Walmart and threw them out post partum.

Re: clothing question

Grandma panies from target with the second. However I did notice with my first I wore the maternity panies with a full belly and it did prevent the itching because there was a layer between my belly and the pants which were rubbing when I walked. I had a hairy belly with my first moreso than with the second. Although I can say by far the grandma panies were more comfortable than anything I tried. Well I babbled enough about that, LOL.

Re: clothing question

You CAN get the "granny" panties with the high cut sides. They come to your wait, but are cut higher on the sides. I found these to be much more comfy and still buy them. Walmart and Target both have store brands of this style, but i usually get the Hanes or FOTL becasue the hold up better. But if you're only going to wear them for the pregnancy, get the cheaper ones. They will last plenty long enough.

Re: clothing question

I went to Target and bought briefs (the same size I was wearing). While I'm not thrilled with the way they fit, they weren't expensive and they're better than my non-pregnant underwear for now. Thanks all for the advice. I still haven't ruled out maternity underwear once I actually get big.
