A baby who vanished from her bed was found hours later stuck under floorboards in her grandparents' home.

There is an old saying that "god moves in mysterious way, his wonders to perform" and this may just be one of those occasions. What are the odds of a child getting into that sort of predicament and not getting hurt? But it was enough to get officials involved who could see how the children were being "dragged up" instead of raised.

Mind you, when Greg was little that was my nightmare, if my house wasn't spotless from ceiling to floor I thought they would take him off me.

I hope it was a legitimate complaint tho, bc I know there are times I wouldn't want anyone doing an inspection on my house. But they did say 'dirty' not 'messy'

The link took me to an article about a girl who was kidnapped by her mother.

Re: Missing baby found safe under floorboards

OK the story has gone missing. the gist of it was, that the father and three kids (between the ages of 1 and about 4 I think) were staying at his parents house for the night, the kids in one room and Dad on the couch. Dad checked on the kids around 4.30 and the 1 yr old was missing. they searched the whole house then called the cops, they were thinking kidnap as the little girl wasn't walking yet and couldn't have wandered off on her own.

Around 7.30, after an extensive search by police etc she coughed and they found her under the floorboards of the bedroom (the firemen ripped up the floor boards, I guess they were in a hurry She was found 'filthy' but unharmed altho she did go to the hospital for a check upl.

Turns out she must have rolled over by the wall, slipped beneath the mattress/bed and got wedged in a hole in the floor, and while wriggling to get free, fell thru in to the crawl space. She can't have been too upset or she would have cried and they would have found her sooner.

As a result of this, all three kids were removed from the parents custody because both the fathers house and the grandparents house were considered so dirty they constituted a health risk for the kids. No mention of the mother tho

Well, my first thought was this ... of course the little girl was filthy! I don't know about you, but I sure as hell don't clean UNDER any floorboards in any house/apt I have lived in!!

Wow! Who in the world has a hole in their floor big enough for a child to get through?? That is what amazes me with the story.
