My sil in GA

Tomorrow my sil (the one who lives in GA) is having a partial hysterectomy. She was having problems with AF...heavy, painful AF...and so the dr suggested a partial one (not sure why they are not doing the whole hysterectomy). She is having it done tomorrow. Please pray that she will not be in too much discomfort and that she heals quickly from it.

Re: My sil in GA

I will keep her in my thoughts.

In a partial I think they just remove the uterus and leave the ovaries so you still produce all your own hormones and don't have to take them . If they do take the ovaries then you have to do hormone replacement therapy for the rest of your life and they only do that when absolutely needed.

I hope she comes through it all okay. And the above poster is right about a partial. That's what I would opt for if I had the choice.

Re: My sil in GA

My sil ended up having the whole hysterectomy. She came home from the hospital late yesterday afternoon and is off work for at least 3 weeks. I talked to my brother last night and he said she is sore, obviously, but the dr gave her some good pain drugs to try to help her cope with it. Hopefully she will have a speedy recovery.

Re: My sil in GA

My mom had a hysterectomy last December. The recovery takes a while because it's a major surgery. But she feels so much better now (she had a benign tumor). She was careful with her activity level and her recovery was fine.

She thought she was going to stay in her own apartment a couple of nights after the surgery (she has stairs and the bathroom and bedroom are upstairs). We were all back home after Christmas for the surgery. I'm glad she admitted she needed to stay with my younger brother, because I think we may have taken away her keys in order to keep her there. She's so stubborn.

She will definitely be in my prayers.
