Any funny Thanksgiving cooking stories?

One year my bil read about cooking a turkey without basting it. Everyone was against his idea and he thought someone was going to try to baste it. So he locked the oven. He didn't know that when he locked it it would shut the oven off (not self cleaning). So when he finally checked the bird right before they sat down it was still white and raw. My family was just going over for dessert and when we arrived everyone was still just sitting around hungry. So we all had a second turkey dinner later that night.

Re: Any funny Thanksgiving cooking stories?

When my parents divorced, my dad moved out the week of Thanksgiving. We went ahead and had Thanksgiving. It was my mom and us three kids. Needless to say everyone was a little stressed. My mom was cutting the turkey and couldn't believe how little meat was on it. She was just so flabbergasted that turkey that weighed 13 lbs (or whatever) could have so little meat. So we ate dinner and when we were putting dinner away, my mom discovered that she had cooked the turkey upside down and had been cutting on the wrong side.
