Patrick Swayze says goodbye ...

as cancer spreads :bawl:

I thought he had beaten the cancer and even going thru chemo and the thought of dying he only missed 1.5 days work. What a man, what bravery not wanting to let everyone else down.

I jhope he and his familys privacy are respected so he can go out with his family and visit their favourite places without paparattzi constantly clicking away at them.

I know I won't be buying any magazine that has new, obviously paparattzi photo's of Patrick Swayze in it.

PS: I've just realised that this story may be all in a journalists mind that would be good, very, very good.

Re: Patrick Swayze says goodbye ...

They're quoting from the Enquirer, so take that into consideration... That being said, pancreatic cancer takes people fast and is very hard to beat.

Re: Patrick Swayze says goodbye ...

Here is an article from a month ago on FOX news which says he has very little of the disease and is responding well to treatment:

Here's an article dated today that says he's still filming a tv series and working 12 hour days:

Here's an article dated Nov. 26 with pics of him at a wrap up party in Chicago:

I'm not saying the National Enquirer is wrong, because they may not be, but they also pay for stories and they aren't, you know, a reliable news source. I can't find any other American news source which supports this. For someone who's at death's door, he sure is lively filming 12 hours a day and going to parties.

Saturday 29th November 2008: Hello everyone,

The Official Fan Club has received a lovely message from Patrick's wife, Lisa. She is happy to say that Patrick is NOT saying goodbye to anyone just yet!! Patrick is still considered to have a minimal amount of disease and Lisa urges everyone not to believe what is printed in the less responsible press.

Lisa says: "Thank you and everyone for caring. As it's been said before, we believe all good and positive thoughts and prayers make a difference. God knows we need that positivity to battle the horribly negative reporting that can happen out there!"

Taken from Patrick Swayze's Official Fan Club sight. http://www.patrickswayze.net/patrick.htm
I didn't notice the source was the Enquirer either. Thanks for pointing that out, Dana!

Some people live quite awhile with panceratic cancer. My cousin, Fern, lived with it for several years and she was an old lady in a wheel chair for over 50 years. Not everyone dies right away and he has the best medical treatment available. He also has the added benefit of being younger than my cousin and physically being in excellent shape and having (it seems) no other health problems.

My dh recently learned his elderly cousin (mid 80s) had a liver transplant and is doing quite well. I'm not sure why he had it, but liver transplants are often successful. For an old man, dh's cousin is pretty spritely. He certainly sends dh a lot of dirty jokes and pics.

Being a famous actor with loads of money, I am sure a liver transplant would definitely be an option.

I don't know the reputation of the various newspapers out there but I did have that thought flash at me so I added a postscript to my post, I'm so glad the article was wrong and the PS: on my post was right.

Re: Patrick Swayze says goodbye ...

patrick and his wife live right houtside of Houston (horse ranch) and there have been very few articles int he papers or in the news. Whast we are hearing is that he is doing well and is responding to treatment and that they are thankful that people are giving them privacy. No one is trying to raid their ranch to get alook at him, which is a blessing. I hope he lives to a ripe old age!
