Pot Roast - How long to cook???

I have a pot roast I want to put in for dinner on Tuesday. The problem is, I work from 5am to 330pm that day.

Would it cook too long in my slow cooker if I started it before I left for work (around 415am).. or have Matt start it around 7am when he leaves for work?

I know my Mom used to cook hers a really long time, but I don't know how long is *too* long.

What time do you eat dinner? And how big is the roast? I know in the crock pot they normally say 8 hours on low and 4-5 on high. I put it on low and I check it a few hours before it is to be done and if it isn't, I turn it up to high.

If it is frozen, you can toss it in before you leave and put it on low - then it should be ready to eat about 6 or so. Just check it when you get home and if it looks like it needs it, turn it up to high for an hour or 3 to fini**** off. Hard to over cook it on low in the crockpot! Just make sure it has a bit of water to get it started. If it's frozen, it will make plenty of juice as it cooks. If it's thawed, I would have Matt start it before he leaves (on low) and then you can check it when you get home. Personally, I toss everything in frozen!

It turned out SOOO good!
I ended up making it yesterday on my day off, and was SOOOO good. Having leftovers tonight!

Bwah! Brenda made a typo omitting the space between "finish" and "it" and it triggered the boards to bleep it out as profanity.
