Crested Gecko

So at our school, being an environmental school, they want everyone to have something living in their classroom. It can be a plant but if you want an animal you sign up for a rescue and they give you a lizard, gecko, fish or frog. Some people have birds, hamsters, ferrets, a degouse (like a large rat), mice, etc.

So I get a Crested Gecko. It arrived in a huge tank. It's name is Noah--which my Noah thinks is hilarious. At first I was afraid of it. Wouldn't touch it. Nothing. Then I started bringing it home in a little travel carrier b/c I felt bad b/c it was a long weekend. Then I brought it home in a bigger carrier. Then I bought it it's own 10 gallon tank at our house so it was "comfy" here. We all fell in love with him. He comes home every weekend. I was carrying his heat lamp home with me every week too.

So today I sent Mike to a pet store to check if two Cresteds could live together b/c MAYBE we'd get the boys one for Christmas. He calls to say he found a baby one and it's "so cute". So after dinner we went to just look. $218 later we have a new baby Crested and a new heat lamp b/c now we have to have our own b/c this guy will be here all the time. So Noah and the new guy met and there were no problems. I fed them some babyfood and some crickets and they are settling in with their new top of the line light--red (for day heat), blue (for night heat) and flouresent (for day light for their skin) lights! I NEVER thought I'd be a person who'd have an animal like this but they are so cool and so friendly. The Crested is actually one of the most docile breeds. Noah is an old guy too--he's 6 and then the baby is well handled so he's really friendly.

Now this is awful...my friend at work told me to save the money and keep Noah at home and tell my class he died. Of course I'd be $218 ahead of the game.
