Re: Acai Berry for weight loss
OK here is my two cents worth on this subject

Jerry and I are distributors for Mona Vie (which has the acai berry in it). DOes it help with weight loss? Some people says it does, for some it does not. I will admit though that the juice we promote is not meant for weight loss, its a functional health beverage. Our juice not only has acai but also has 18 other fruits and berries. So you end up eating better in the sense that you are getting your full daily servings of fruits and veggies that pretty much NO ONE gets (who can afford to buy enough to eat 10 servings a day?).
The power of Acai is phenomenal. Oprah has talked about it, Dr Oz has talked about it, as well as Rachel Ray and many others.
The berry is full of anti oxidants. FOr the longest time the Cranberry had the highest ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbant Capacity)--anti oxidant-- of any other food at around 97. The Acai berry blows it out of the water sitting at higher than 1000.
Everything around us creates the free radicals in our bodies that affect our health, and age our bodies. Free radicals attack soft tissues (i.e. eyes, skins and other organs). When you eat a healthy diet high in anti oxidants, the anti oxidants wrap themselves around the free radicals and your body flushes them out.
I think that is where these "diets" with the Acai comes in because of the super high ORAC score. The higher the ORAC the more you are going to get rid of....I feel though, that if you are going to flush out the bad stuff you also need to make sure you are taking in a bunch of good stuff. When you get your full serving of fruits and veggies in a day, then your body is going to naturally begin to heal itself and become more balanced.
