Nine-year-old carried friend to safety

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A 10-year-old is recovering in the hospital after he was hit by a driver in east Houston who then fled the scene. That's when the youngster's nine-year-old best friend jumped into action, carried him home, and called 911.

Quick thinking by that little boy. And it's awesome that they appear to have gotten the driver, too. I wonder how drunk (or stoned) they were to hit the bike, get out and move it out from under the SUV, and drive on, not realizing that there had been someone ON that bike - presumably someone now laying in the road.

Wow!!! That 9 yr old is a brave boy and a hero! I'm glad they have those two people in custody!!!

This was all over the news here. Hard to believe someone would do that. Nothing in any of the new reports that I've heard said anything about the drive or passenger being "impaired". Thankfully, the boy is going to be fine.

just as well the little boy didn't have a back or neck injury tho, this could have turned out very differently if he had.

even i had seen this in the local news and was proud of the 9 year old! the guys in the car should be severely punished, had that 9 year not been there, the other kid would have been in real trouble...

They did arrest the driver and passenger later that same day. Haven't heard anything since, tho.

smart boy...i guess we'd be suprised at how responsible they can be at times
