NJ kids with Nazi-inspired names removed from home

HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Three New Jersey siblings whose names have Nazi connotations have been placed in state custody, police said. The children, ranging in age from 3 to under 1, were removed from their home Friday. They drew attention last month when a supermarket bakery refused to put the name of the oldest — Adolf Hitler Campbell — on a birthday cake.

Re: NJ kids with Nazi-inspired names removed from home

Snap I was just coming here to put the link up for the story on MSN.

http://news.ninemsn.com.au/world/718...d-from-parents.

I think the parents are going to bitterly regret trying to get their 15 minutes of fame. It has back fired terribly. also at the bottom of the MSN article it says

Quote:
Both Heath and Deborah Campbell, 24, are both unemployed due to alleged disabilities.
You can guarentee that those "alleged disabilities are going to be examined under a fine tooth comb. So they may have to actually find jobs instead of sitting at home having a baby a year, wondering how else they can get more 'famous', decorating their apartment with swastikas and denying that the holocaust took place.

Quote:
The Holocaust deniers, who have swastikas in every room of their rented house,
altho they haven't said why the kids were removed

Quote:
The Division of Youth and Family Services has refused to comment on the reason behind their action.
I hope it is not just because the parents are complete morons and there was a huge world wide backlash to their "poor me" story. If they start taking kids because their parents are nut cases where will it stop? Nearly eveybody has something that other people would find a tad strange and that is not a good enough reason to take children off their parents.

I don't think they took the kids away for their names. My dh actually worked with a Harry Lip**** and a Vagina. Neither were removed from their parents homes because their names which are quite insulting. I think they took the kids away from their parents because they aren't just giving their kids insulting names, they are Hilter worshipers who have to broadcast it to everyone which IMO says they are very mentally unstable.

Since the reason is not stated why the kids were taken away (nor should it be, they are children who deserve their privacy, their parents already made them a freak show) there is no way to know why. I have known several people who grew up in the foster system. The reasons were often sexual abuse, sevre neglect due to alcholism or drug addiction (really common), physical abuse or neglect. It could be any of those things.

Some of the women who are teachers and more familiar with the reasons kids are removed from their homes. One teacher I knew in Texas helped get one of her students removed from the family home, because she brought the crack rock her mother gave her for her birthday to show and tell. Another teacher I knew got a kid removed from his parents home, because he got in trouble in school one day and his dad beat him over the head with a thick, metal belt buckle in front of all the kids getting on the school bus. It is probably not over their names.

But really, I often think parents who give their kids names that are not names in any culture and insulting aren't the fittest of parents. You're supposed to love your kid. Why would you give your sweet baby some name that will put them up for ridicule their whole life? Would they like that name to be their name?

I like the old saying..

You have to have a license for everything... except being a parent.

Re: NJ kids with Nazi-inspired names removed from home

You can't just take a child away because of their names. If that is the case the president of my PTO would have her child taken away because his name is Adolph(we call him Addie. I won't tell you their last name but it is common in the german/Austria area. I'm gonna take a guess and say the name has been in their family since before Adolph Hitler had to come along and ruin a respectable name.

I'm very curious to know why they were taken away. They sound like terrible people altogether though. And wouldn't surprise me as to what type of groups they belong too They brought that type of publicity onto themselves though.

I'm going to guess that the kids were taken away for being put in a dangerous situation ... not simply because of their names or even their parents' beliefs. Of course, I have no idea if the danger stems from their group affiliations or something totally different.
Even the thought that children could be taken from their home based on their parents' beliefs/religions (no matter how ludicrous) is terrifying.

It is terrifying if that is the case Elaine. I mean who is to say somewhere down the line, my children could be taken away because I'm raising them to be Christian. I doubt that is even the reason. They "try" to be really picky about why they take children away from parents. In fact, most of them time it doesn't happen soon enough.
