Yesterday I made the most amazing roast in the crock pot! I used a can of cram of mushroom soup, half a can of water, and one packet of dry onion soup mix. Let me tell you it was delish! taste in every bite and so tender and juicy! I will deffinately use cream soups and seasonings again next time I use the crock!

Re: Pot Roast

I always use onion soup mix with my roast as well Did you throw your veggies in too? Just in case you didn't know-you can throw an entire bag of baby carrots and small potatoes and whatever else ya'll like in at the same time. Just add more water. mmmmm, you are making me hungry!LOL!

Re: Pot Roast

I've heard of pot roasts but I've never had one. Is it a special cut of meat? or just the same roast (bone and all) that you would usually roast in the oven?

they sound yummy and fantastic for winter in the crock pot, if I can just figure out what the heck they are??

I always just call it a roast if that helps any, Maree.

I always do mine in the crock pot. i cut up carrots and potatoes and put in it. And I add beef bullion cubes. It is always so tender and falling apart.

Re: Pot Roast

Any "roast" cut of meat is a pot roast around here! LOL! It's normally made with potatoes, carrots and onions (alot of people use onion soup mix - Lipton makes mone but most use the store brand). I normally toss in either cream of mushroom or cream of celery soup, 2-3 cans of water (depending on how many potatoes & carrots I added).

I put the veggies on the bottom of the crock pot. Add the soup, water and mix (if any). Put the roast on top, with some salt & Pepper. You can use a frozen rost and cook it on high 6-8 hours, or a thawed roast on low for 4-6 hours. An entire dinner in one pot and oh so good!

BTW - you can use any veggies you like. Potatoes take longer to cook, that why you add them at the beginning. Anything else can be added in the last 2-3 hours.
