Prayers for FIL - Cancer

A few weeks ago, my FIL was diagnosed with early onset prostate cancer at the Houston VA hospital. The prognosis was good and surgery was scheduled.

Yesterday, because of the inevitable delays at the VA, he went to see his third outside oncologist. The VA screwed up BIG TIME. He has advanced prostate concer and things do NOT look good.

I don't have all the details, but PLEASE say some prayers for him, MIL and Rick (who s dealing with it by simply not talking about it right now). Thank you.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I hope that Rick soon realizes that he can't just ignore it and needs to talk to someone....anyone

You know, my FIL is a PITA, but I love him. Even when we're fighting, I love him. Rick told me today (joking) that he is going to ignore it and hope it goes away. I've been thinking all day on how to get him to talk. One of the reasons I waited 3 years to marry him is because he wouldn't talk about his feelings. He will talk to me about things between us, but still has trouble with hi feelings for his family. He loves them, but doesn't rteally like them and he feels guilty about that. Now that his dad may be dying, he is feelinjg even worse about it. I ahve to find a way for him to talk. Any ideas? Please?

Do you have a pastor? Or maybe he should talk to a professional b/f crisis time. It sounds like you've really got him nailed down. Guilt is a terrible thing. He really has to deal with it now.

As he so gently puts it, he loves his parents, but he LIKES mine.

We talked a bit on the phone. He is convinced that his dad will be dead within 2 years, if not less. He figures there is nothing he can do about it, so why worry. I really have to get him to talk!
