How do I make her stop!?!

Ally has this habit of practically stripping, then walking around with no shirt on in front of her brother and dad. I have told her over and over that young ladies can't do that!

She responds that Dad and Drew do it all the time.

I said "Well, they are guys"

She says "Well, you told me girls can do anything boys can do."

"Yes, except walk around half naked!"

She says I lied to to her then.

What can I do to make her understand? It's driving me nutso!

The men of the house aren't going to appreciate this, but they should not be doing that either, IMHO. My dh does not walk around topless. She has a point. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. It won't hurt them to wear a shirt.

If they complain it's hot, tell them at least they don't have to wear a bra too!

We are the opposite, we all tend to run around naked/semi naked when it's hot, altho these days I tend to put on a sports bra because boobs on chest - means sweaty skin

making Rick and Drew wear a shirt is 'fair' but it's not going to make her point go away, she is going to see topless men everywhere else so her "girls can do anything boys can do" point is still going to be made.

You could try getting her to wear a bikini top, that would be a lot cooler and her back at least would be bare.

does she have a favourite 'girl' (cartoon/girl/woman) she idolises? If so you could sit down with her and do a google search for pictures of her and show her that "whoever it is" always wears a bikini top or a t-shirt. (mind you, these days I think I would do the google search alone first, you never know what you are going to find)

I'm sure you've had the 'private parts' talk, and girls having bare chests is a private part once you get out of the toddler phase. I would just tell her she's getting to the age where little girls need to be covered up.

I tell Austin this on a daily basis, only he likes to run around with no underwear on just before he gets in the shower.

Making the guys wear a top at home seems like a good idea. But I agree - she'll see men out in the world topless.

Maybe have some under shirts or a small sports bra just for these occasions? A bikini top would work as well as long as they aren't all packed up.

However, if you keep making a big deal over it she'll just continue to do it just to push your buttons. You have to pick your battles, hun.

She is eight and yes, we have had th private parts talk. Drew is not allowed to be in the room when she is changing, yet she'll take her shirt off when they are in the LR watching TV! We're getting there. At least she doesn't do it in front of other opepe anymore! When she was about 3, if she got hot, she would strip down to her panties no matter were we were!

Maybe I willg et her some undershirts. Hadn't thought about that! Good idea!

Maybe some tank tops. They have those really thin white ones in the little girls department. Kel is always running around with tank tops on. But she is also very private.

Christian on the other hand tries to run around in his undies. And we just keep sending him back to his room til he can come out right. His excuse is he wants to sleep like Daddy. The difference. Den doesn't run around the house in his undies and if the kids come in the room in the morning, Kel knows she has to leave until Den gets his pants on.
