Want to buy a Bible for Ally

I would like to get Ally a "real" Bible for Easter. I know that she won't be able to read a "real" bible, but I'm going to get her one anyway. But I would also like to get her one that she CAN read. Most of the Children's bibles I've seen are for little kids. She is in 2nd grade.

Anyone have any suggestions where I can find something like that? I don't mind buying online, but I would rather look at it first to make sure it's what I want.

I have a children's Bible that used to be Drew's. It covers most of the major stories (Noah's ark, the Garden of Eden, Jonah and the Whale, etc). She asked me tonight to help her read about Daniel tomorrow night. I like that!

This is the bible I bought for Sammie since she is starting to read. For her, it is a little hard still... so I help her read it. But it has lots of high frequency words and I'm glad I picked this one. I bought another copy for a friend's daughter who is in first grade and she liked it too

Re: Want to buy a Bible for Ally

I don't think this will work for Ally. the children's bible we have now is harder than this. But It will work GREAT for my 5yo nephew! I'm getting ALL the kids bibles for Easter. Ally is the only one getting a really nice one tho. The one I have my eye on is about $25, but made for kids. That one she will actually take to church. And it has slightly larger print, so it's a bit easier to read.

i saw a beautiful one that I will have to wait a while to get her. It costs about $45, has a leather cover that's engravable and just gorgeous! I got my first bible when I was 12 - I don't want to wait that long with Ally.

I have no idea what you were wanting to spend on your neices and nephews, but they have tons of Bibles, children's bibles, bible games, books, and coloring books at the Dollar Tree.

Liz and Nick have a couple of great Bibles. I will have to see if I can find Liz's first one and see what it was called as it is probably the best one for Ally

Re: Want to buy a Bible for Ally

Brenda, do you have a Christian bookstore in your area? Go there and ask them. Our Christian bookstore (Family Christian Bookstore) has a huge selection of Bibles--teen Bibles, children's Bibles, preschooler's Bibles, etc.

Haley got The Precious Moments Bible the Easter that she was 5. It's a full KJ version though and while it has lots of devotions for children and a scripture memory guide, It's not any easier to read.

Re: Want to buy a Bible for Ally

Michele, the problem I have is that most children's bibles are to "babyish" for her. I want something a bit more challenging. She reads above her grade level (2nd grade) and has a very good vocabulary and comprehension. The children's bibles I'm finding are either "regular" or for little kids.

Brenda, if you are looking for a Bible that is not too babyish, but you want one that is not written in New King James, then look at the NIV (New International Version) Bibles, which are written in standard English. You can find NIV Adventure Bibles at Family Christian Stores. Here's a link:

Re: Want to buy a Bible for Ally

I had a book with the bible stories in it (I guess you'd call it a children's bible) when I was young. I think my great-grandmother got it for me when I was 7 or 8. Best I can tell it was The Bible In Pictures for Little Eyes . I read and re-read that until 8th or 9th grade, and really enjoyed it.
