Hair Washing

How often do you wash your hair?

My MIL and SIL only wash their hair 2 or 3 times a week. I thought that was so strange! I was mine every day. If I don't it gets oily and itchy.

Re: Hair Washing

ditto on the 2-3 times a week. Mine dries out especially because I blow dry it and use hot rollers everyday. So I tend to not wash it.

Re: Hair Washing

I'm a 2 -3 times a week person! Just washed and it's very fly away and a curl won't stay, day 2 is great, but by the end of day 3 my hair feels pretty greasy.

Re: Hair Washing

Every other day. If I wash it every day it gets to dry, if I wait to long it gets NASTY oily...

Re: Hair Washing

About twice a week in the winter. 3 times a week in the warmer months. My hair tends to be dry and washing more often just mkes it dr, brittle and fly away.

Re: Hair Washing

I wish I had the dry hair problem! I can go one day without washing but any more than that and it's GREASY!

Re: Hair Washing

I also have dry hair and only wash it 2-3 times a week or I end up with the same hair style as Albert Einstein, ans that really is not a good look for a woman

Re: Hair Washing

Usually every day, but occasionally every other day (if I don't have to be seen in public, I can skip it one day ). I only put conditioner one it once or twice a week, though. And VERY rarely does it have heat applied to it in any way - I think I've used the blow-dryer twice in the last 6 months.

Re: Hair Washing

I only wash my every other day, sometimes the third day. My hair is SUPER thin and if I wash it every day it just doesn't work right and my ends get way too dry. My stylist actually just told me a couple of weeks ago that it is best NOT to wash your hair every day because you are stripping it of your natural oils which repairs your hair.

I heard this when I was in HS.

My hair is OK on day one if I let it dry naturally and not do anything with it. Day 2 is frizzy/dry, Day 3 is ok and then the oils come through. I have my dads hair when it will have dry ends but oily near the scalp. So I am a few times a week washer - depending on my mood and the "look" I'm going for

Re: Hair Washing

I wash mine everyday, too Michelle. I use hot rollers almost everyday, but I also am a heavy conditioner user. I use Suave Humectress after I hand dry my hair and leave it in. I think my hair gets stinky if I don't wash it everyday.

Re: Hair Washing

If I wash my hair everyday it turns into a big frizz ball... The joys of super thin/ fine curly hair. I wash every other, or occasionally every third day. On the inbetween days I mist my hair with lavender water to help with the flyaways and control the curl. It good for my curls.

Re: Hair Washing

I wash my hair pretty much every day. Sometimes I have ponytail days and I don't wash my hair those days, IF my roots are not too greasy. Also, if I wash my hair at night before I go to bed, I usually don't wash my hair the next day. But I also condition my hair almost every time I wash it, and I use a deep conditioner a couple of times a week. If I wear my hair straight, I blow it dry and use the flat iron on it. If I wear my hair curly, I let it air dry.
I read an article the other day that said exactly what Krista was saying her hair stylist told her. It also said, though, that some people do have hair that gets oily after skipping one washing, and in those cases, people do need to wash their hair every day. The article said that if you wash your hair every day, you should use a gentle shampoo and dilute it with water every other washing. It also said to use a light rinse out conditioner every time you wash your hair, and put it on your ends and if your hair is long or longer, move it up to the middle of your strands, but don't put it on the roots.

Re: Hair Washing

I wash mine everyday because if I don't my hair gets to looking oily. If I was brunette or had darker hair I might go every other day. However, I can't STAND to go without washing it. It nearly killed me when I was in the hospital last year when all you get to do is wash it with that no rinse stuff. A couple of people came to visit me and I apologized for the way my hair looked. My mom was the same way about her hair so I got it from her.

Re: Hair Washing

I shower and wash my hair every morning. It's just one of those things I HAVE to do.

Re: Hair Washing

Cheryl I have brownish hair and to me it looks greasier if left go. I HAVE to wash my hair daily or else looks and feels greasy. I don't use an iron or blow dry so I only need to condition it a few times a week. It doesn't get overly dry unless I let my hair cut go longer then it should.

Re: Hair Washing

I *have* to wash it everyday. One, it wakes me up in the morning. Two, it gets greasy after 30 hours. Yucky icky greasy.

Re: Hair Washing

This is funny. I thought I was odd for not washing my hair everyday. I used to, but within the last year or so I've gotten to where I hate washing my hair. I was it every other day. If I'm really tired though I can go a third. If I do that I typically wear a headband because I'm paranoid about it looking greasy. If I go more than three days I start to get hot quicker. I guess the grease/oil doesn't let my skin breath as well.

Re: Hair Washing

Headbands are a great way to hide the greasy hair!
