Baby Car Seat Question

OK so I was going to get the recaro car seat for Jerren, but decided I didn't feel like spending that much money on a car seat.

http://www.recarochildseat.com/Recaro-Como.pro

So I found this, It has good reviews, but can I use this for an infant also? When I read the reviews no one says anything about an infant. Also we have another car seat that is just for infants and I was looking to put this one in my car. I think we have the Chicco carseat in the hubby's truck right now. annndd I wanna get a carseat for my parents car too so this I would hope would work... Opinions?

Re: Baby Car Seat Question

Having an infant seat that removed from the base was the easiest for me. The baby stayed buckled in the seat and the whold thing came off the base. It was so easy to grab the handle and go...

Re: Baby Car Seat Question

I have to say out of the two I'd go with the first. Even though it's more money upfront it's cheaper in the long run. The fact that the child can stay in this seat WITH THE HARNESS till 70lbs makes it well worth it both money and safety wise! He will be able to stay in the first one till he is at least 5 or 6 years old and it's much safer then a high back booster and more convenient if you have a smaller car, or a vehicle with a lap only belt in the center.

Re: Baby Car Seat Question

I don't think the second one is going to work for a newborn. I don't think it reclines thus making the baby flop forward. I'll bet it's a 22 lb and up but 'm not sure. Just go to Walmart and take a look to be sure. We always spend the most money on car seats we can. It's never something we save money on. JMO. I like the new Graco infant seat that holds newborns up to 30 lbs and 32" and then we switched to a Britax Regent which is forward facing up to 80 lbs (child must be 22 lbs and 1 yr old). Both of my kids are in Regents now and will be until they're like 8. LOL. They look like regular seats in a car but with harnesses. I can sit in it comfortably. With the Safe Seat we bought extra bases for my parents and aunts who watched our sons and they just switched the one infant seat around. It was much easier. I used a Snap and Go frame with it as a carriage.

Re: Baby Car Seat Question

Good Idea! I guess I can always get more then one base

I kinda wanted the racing seat anyways since it fits with my car

Also I looked in my back seat and I am not to sure a baby seat will fit in the middle, I have the latch things but they are on the other 2 seats.... does a baby seat have to be in the middle? It doesn't really look like one would fit in the middle since it goes up from the other seats and is only about a foot wide at the most.

Re: Baby Car Seat Question

Latched seats are only installed on the sides. If you want seat in the middle it has to be put in with the seatbelt. It is safer to put it in with latch on the side (and easier to get to the baby).

Re: Baby Car Seat Question

Awesome! So I am soooo putting that baby seat on the side, LOL I have no back doors so that will make it so much easier! Thanks for the helpful info... also I don't think I have a seat belt in the middle...but yet I have never really looked for one either, I just noticed that latches today and I have had the car for almost 2 years.

Re: Baby Car Seat Question

If you put him on the passenger side you will have to walk aruond to get him out but you will be able to see him better in the rearview mirror. FYI! Check it out first though.

Re: Baby Car Seat Question

COOL!

Well I think I will do that! Plus I do a walk around my car to make sure I don't have dings in it anyways so it won't be different LOL

Re: Baby Car Seat Question

I agree with Abby and Bridget. Get the best one you can, and the first one you listed is great because you can use it for so long.

Re: Baby Car Seat Question

Also, my sister cautioned me to never buy a carseat made by Cosco or Eddie Bauer (both made by Cosco) because they have a lot of recalls. With Emily's 2nd carseat, we bought a Cosco one because we really liked it. Well, we had it for about two days, and the catch on the harness stopped working and we could not buckle her in. Thankfully we still had her other carseat, and we returned the new one and have NEVER even looked at another Cosco one again.

Re: Baby Car Seat Question

I had a Fisher Price one with Ally. Think it was about $100 on sale. Of course that was 8 years ago. I like the more expensive ones that can go from infant to toddler. More money up front, but cheaper inthe long run. I'm glad you got the first one. I like it much better! But good luck getting it in and out with no back doors! I don't envy you one bit! I made Rick get us a minivan when Ally was born. Couldn't handle fighting with no back doors! It's gets old fast. But I had 2 kids to deal with - both in car seats.

Re: Baby Car Seat Question

We have one of those multi-stroller seats. It doubles as a stroller and a car seat. A little more expensive but 2 4 1!

Re: Baby Car Seat Question

Last week I ordered a Britax Marathon for Lucas...it'll last him for 6 years at least! It was not cheap by any means but I've heard nothing but good reviews about the seat.

Re: Baby Car Seat Question

I think that the second one is suitable for your baby. You can use it for an infant too. It looks comfortable and convenient. You should buy it. The price is a little expensive , but I think that we must buy something that we suppose it is necessary for us.

I guess having a baby requires lots of changes and spending money as well.
