Does anyone have any recommendations? My legs especially are EXTREMELY dry. Like alligator skin! I have tried all different kinds of lotion but nothing seems to be working!

Re: Lotion for VERY dry skin??

I've tried cocoa and shea butter. Didn't work.

I find Aveeno leaves my skin feeling sticky. I don't remember which one I tried though.

Re: Lotion for VERY dry skin??

Eucerin. It may leave your skin feeling sticky but it really works. I used to have to use it and a steroid cream because my fingers used to crack all the time. The Eucerin left it feeling a bit sticky but it did work.

Re: Lotion for VERY dry skin??

St. Ives - Collagen Elastin. I have chronic dry skin and I use this as my everyday lotion. WONDERFUL stuff! Not too horribly expensive, either - plus they put out coupons all the time.

Gold Bond Medicated Lotion is awesome. Ain't cheap, but lasts a loooonnnngggg time!

My doc recommends Aquophor. Hideously expensive, but works. I refuse to pay that much, tho.

I think that's what I use - Aveeno Intense Relief. I bought both the hand cream (my hands were so dry they were cracking and bleeding), and the tub of body lotion. Seems to be helping me - I slather it on my legs right after the shower, and once or twice a day I use the hand cream, too.

Thanks ladies, maybe one of these will work!

Re: Lotion for VERY dry skin??

When you figure it out let me know. I've tried a lot of lotions and none work. I asked the ladies that do my nails and they said baby oil, so I'll try that next.

Re: Lotion for VERY dry skin??

I was going to make the exact same recommendation as Brenda--I use St. Ives lotion, too, and have for about 20 years. I have had spurts of really dry skin and have used the Gold Bond (healing I think it's called), and it's great, but it is expensive. I would say splurge on the gold bond and get your legs feeling better and then use St. Ives DAILY after that.

Re: Lotion for VERY dry skin??

Oh, and I never have dry skin anymore--here's what I do: After I shave my legs, I put baby oil on them--while I am still in the tub or shower. As soon as I get out of the shower and dry off, I apply lotion generously to my legs and then to the rest of my body. I also put lotion on all over my body, including on my legs, after every shower, even if I don't shave.

Palmers has an oil that I used while in Mexico, someone else had it. It's the fast asorbing oil. That worked pretty good...

Re: Lotion for VERY dry skin??

It is the Aveeno Intense Relief. It isn't sticky at all. I like all of their stuff. I use it on the kids too.

I use Aveeno on Travis, too, and it's not sticky.

I use The Body Shop's Hemp line for dry skin. I love it, its moderately expensive. I stock up on it when it goes on sale.

Re: Lotion for VERY dry skin??

Okay, this is a mess, but I read it on a dermotologist's website, it's super cheap and it works. Before you go to bed smear a layer of vaseline over any area with dry skin especial hands and feet. You're going to want to wear long sleeved pajamas or sweats to bed along with gloves and socks. When you wake up your skin will be soft and healed. However, it is messy.

That does work too ^

Re: Lotion for VERY dry skin??

That does sound messy but I'm desperate enough to try anything!

My aunt told me to put lotion on while still wet from the shower and kinda air dry for a few minutes. I did that last night and my legs are MUCH less dry today than usual.

Re: Lotion for VERY dry skin??

I put that baby oil gel on once I get outta the shower. Then air dry, it does work ^_^

Re: Lotion for VERY dry skin??

Hmm Vaseline has a new kind out...it's Intensive Therapy or something...it's in a white bottle with a little cross on it I think/ I like it pretty well for a lotion. A cream would be better, and I use Eucerin.

Re: Lotion for VERY dry skin??

Tara, baby oil is mineral oil and doesn't absorb
