Re: How are you feeling about the stimulus?

LOL, Honestly.... Do we really need it? Jordan and I don't need it, we are doing very well...but whatever, this is one thing that I haven't followed.

Re: How are you feeling about the stimulus?

I am so mad about this stimulus. For one thing, it was supposed to be fast help. So far, it looks no where near passing. For another, they just keep tacking stuff on that is unrelated.

There was a proposal to give every American $1million. This would cost less than any of the other plans. I like the Million Dollar plan. Yes, I would save some. But I would spend a lot too. Heck, even $10,000 to every American making less than $100,000 a year works for me. And it would be loads less than the current stimulus. The complaint against the Million Dollar plan is people would save not spend.

I could do a lot with $10,000.

This current plan just seems to be giving more money to the rich. It looks like they already cut out all the highway funds. So what good is it anyway? Especially if it doesn't even pass. Man, sort out the doable stuff like the highway bill, and get something done instead of nothing!

Re: How are you feeling about the stimulus?

I think they are trying to lump too much stuff into one bill. Cut the crap and do what needs to be done. Honestly I think its useless because from what I have heard alot of the $$ isn't going to be put to immediate use - alot is more for long term use.

Stop bailing out the stupid people. We have a struggling company - stupid tenants who don't pay rent and then move out without telling us and leaving the place trashed while turning off the furnace and opening the windows in below zero weather.

But I'm not there asking for a handout.

Re: How are you feeling about the stimulus?

I have 5k in debt, I would like to pay that off....

Once I have that paid off I will be a happy lady! WOO hoo...

This might sound weird but Jordan and I have been doing 100X's better financially then we were a few years ago.

Re: How are you feeling about the stimulus?

We would be doing fine if Dh didn't get cheated on a business deal. He was supposed to be paid $3,000, but he only got $600. Plus we have all these medical bills. Hopefully, the VA Bill for dental care, which is not part of the stimulus, but a seperate bill, will pass, because dh needs loads of dental care.

Re: How are you feeling about the stimulus?

3000 but only got 600!??!?! I'd be pissed!

Yea some lady stole 250,000 from my mom! WTF! that was years ago though, it was to start a business and the b-word just took my mom's money and poof she was gone.

My dad doesn't have dental insurance, from the military and he also needs TONS of dental care, what he has done was found a dental school here ( the teacher is actually a good friend of my mom's) and they do his dental work there, for about half the cost and they do a very very good job.

Re: How are you feeling about the stimulus?

i haven't been following it a whole lot, but we could definitely use some extra money! There is so much that could be done around the house so yeah I would spend quite a bit and save a little tool

Re: How are you feeling about the stimulus?

They aren't giving a single red penny to Joe Average American. Apparently, they aren't giving any to rebuild the highways or infastructure either. Who knows what they are spending it on! I thought building and repairing roads, bridges, leeves, etc was a good idea. You know before another bridge collapses on people or more leeves break and kill people.

One of the provisios that gets me is giving $70 million to WWII vets from the Philapines. Okay, yes, they served our country and we promised them the money. We've paid off all our other allied supporters even Africa. But why is this part of the stimulus bill? How is paying people (who we owe and deserve to be paid because we said we would 50 years ago) who are not American citizens and not living in the US going to stimulate the American economy? I have no problem with paying them. They served our country in the war. They deserve to be paid. I just have a problem with it being part of the stimulus bill. It should be it's own bill.

Re: How are you feeling about the stimulus?

I Know. I just want to give everyone one of them up there on Capitol Hill a head butt - Republician and Democrat. Quit fighting and get your act together! Tax credits that don't even come into play this tax season? People need jobs now! Not next year.

Re: How are you feeling about the stimulus?

They are trying for a 15,000 tax credit if you purchase a house too. What good is that if you can't afford the mortgage payment the rest of the year?

Re: How are you feeling about the stimulus?

My opinion is different, I guess. if you already can't afford rent or an extra 800.00 a month then you shouldn't run out and try to get that tax credit for a house OR a car. You will just end up another statistic. Yes it is a lifetime invest IF you can afford it right now and there are plenty of people out there who thought they could afford there home when they bought it a few years ago and are getting their dream yanked from them right now.

I just assumed the tax credit was being used to get the auto industry moving right now. Otherwise even more people will be laid off. I mean Den is desperate for a new truck but it is a WANT not a need right now. And I hate paying two car payments at a time especially with how crappy things are in the economy.

I don't understand how tax credits are going to help because most people know that they will not use that credit to put back on their car or house...they will spend it stupidly.

it's up to $900 billion now and no where near passing.

Re: How are you feeling about the stimulus?

I have to agree with Liz on much of what she said. And.. all hail Saint Obama. sorry. I got a good laugh at those who thought he was just going to swoop in and save the day. he's a man, not might mouse.

I don't know much about the stimulus or how it should be spent or to whom it should go.. exactly. What I do know is that we end up paying for all of this in the end. And I know that if I bounced a check, no body is going to come pull my butt out of the fire for it. But God forbid a huge company makes a mistake... we all pay for it.

Re: How are you feeling about the stimulus?

How do we all feel about the stimulus now? GM Bankrupt, The government taking control of over 60% of the company. How many billions wasted? We were told GM can't filing for bankruptcy, the country would be doomed and now all I read is how much better GM will be after it files. GM now stands for Government Motors!
