Re: Obama signs kids' health insurance bill
This is one time I have no problem with them raising the price of cigarettes. The tax money is going somewhere it is truly needed. Yeah, I'm a Republican. And yeah, I don't agree with alot of Obama's "promises". But I fail to see why Republicans are griping. All he has done is to basically extend the program that is already in place to cover the children of those who have lost their jobs in the past year. The kids should suffer because the adults lost thier jobs? I don't think so.And as far as the private insurance thing? If you are able to be covered by private insurance, the CHIPs program won't cover you. At least, here in Texas CHIPs will not cover those who are eligible for private insurance. Say, mom and dad have insurance thru work, but put their kids in CHIPs because it's cheaper? Nope, won't work here. I imagine that most states have a similiar policy for just the same reasons.

Re: Obama signs kids' health insurance bill
It doesn't work here either, not even for me and I am supposed to qualify because I am a disabled vet. CHAMPVA is supposed to be a secondary insurance and CHIPS the primary, but it doesn't work that way. If I didn't have CHAMPVA, my kids would be uninsured because we make about $1,000 over the CHIPS limit. It makes no sense at all to me.

Re: Obama signs kids' health insurance bill
I believe it is the same here Brenda. Which I do understand. Our insurance through Den's work is 50.00 a week/300 a month for 4 people and is the best we have around here. My deductible isn't very high and it is affordable....some people pay a ton and I think those people need help. We don't notice it because it comes right out of our paycheck weekly....i never notice vision, dental and medical are already paid for.My dad pays almost 900 out of his own pocket for him and my mom for insurance because he owns his business. There is no way he would EVER qualify for insurance through the state but some months has to bust his ass to pay that 900 for his insurance. There are so many people out there just like my dad and some of those people may opt to let their insurance go because they can't afford it anymore and they still don't qualify for state help

Re: Obama signs kids' health insurance bill
Rick works for the federal govt and we pay almost $400 a month just for medical. Vision and (crappy) dental are another $150 a month. It come sout of his paycheck, so we never see it. We pay more than most people around here, but many companies don't even offer dental and vision anymore. But kids HAVE to have this stuff!

Re: Obama signs kids' health insurance bill
Yeah kids do need it. We used the heck out of our dental on Christian this past year and are working on the vision for Kelsey now...lol. The longer Den is with his company the less he pays a week the amount for medical can go as low as 28.00 a week for the best
The offer awesome benefits for us and try for great dental/vision. The owner has kids and his wife demands the best for his employees....LOL

Re: Obama signs kids' health insurance bill
My kids were on the state plan back in North Carolina when we were a family of 4. Mike had a decent job ($14 an hour working 40+ hours per week) and I was working a few hours at the church so we didn't qualify for Medicaid but no insurance was offered through his job. We were making it on our own comfortably but the expense of insurance for the kids would have made us struggle. It was definitely a blessing for us back then.- Grace

We don't have dental and vision either. And they demand payment up front. My OT keeps insisting we take Cara to the eye dr. We can't even afford you, b!tch, let alone an eye doctor and a dentist! I get so sick of people saying, "You have to go to the doctor!" Or my dad, "They have to go to the dentist!" Are you paying? Then shut the F up!

Will it include dental and vision?
