Lisa's post got me thinking...

What are the luxuries in your life (x-tra things you buy or do for yourself that cost you) that you refuse to give up unless absolutely necessary?

I don't have anything really expensive that I buy for myself but I wouldn't give up my good quality hair/make-up/shaving products for cheaper items. I've found what I like ... Olay regenerist, Venus Breeze, Physician's formula ... and unless it takes away from my children's mouths to keep buying them, I will.

When I was pg with Greg and when he was a baby I had two treats that I got myself once a fortnight when I did my shopping
1: Two cheese rolls and 2 slices of roast beef from the Deli
2: Two rolls of really nice, soft, scented toilet paper.

Now it's having my finger nails and eyebrows done.

It's also having my frozen shoulder massaged 3 times a week instead of physiotherapy It cost's $10 a week more than the once a week visit to the physio I had all last year and has done more good in 4 weeks than a years worth of physio did - but I certainly do not consider it a luxury it is 30 - 40 minutes of extremely painful deep tissue massage but it does do the job.

having my computer is my biggest luxury

oh, my new ceramic curling iron is a biggie i guess, i had to use my ancient one for a couple of months until dh bought be a new ceramic and what a difference!

Hmm....I buy 2 books a week. My coffee when I'm out and about. Dinner out with Den once a weekend or every other weekend. And at least one family outing a month whether it is the movies, bowling, out to eat or whatever the kids decide to do (today we did the movies, breakfast out and supper out) I think next month they want to go bowling.

Getting my hair done professionally at a high end salon (no great clips etc). It costs me an arm and a leg so I wait until I absolutely can't stand my roots any longer But I SOOOO learned my lesson on trying to be cheap and doing my hair myself. Oh my!
Also, I buy Starbucks usually 2x a week. Used to be 3-4x but since I'm not working as much I am cutting back. I figure that since I'm not smoking any more that SB a couple of times is a good trade off.
I also HAVE to have Charmin tp-no exceptions! I will go generic on practically anything else if I absolutely have to but NEVER skimp on tp! My ass is worth it!

Getting my nails done. I didn't really have a luxury item for a long time LOL, but my boyfriend's mom got me a gift card for Christmas to have my nails done, and now I'm addicted LOL.
Well and my hair. My friend does it for me so I don't feel guilty buying the color/highlight combo, and she does a great job at the cut/color .

I don't know. I'll have to think about it. I am like Krista in that I won't go cheap on my hair, even if it means getting it done less often.
I would also say our family vacations are our luxury item. I'll work as hard as I have to and sacrifice other things for our family to take a vacation every year.

Internet, cable, sock yarn. Netflix.

We use Angel Soft. The generic ketchup we found before the store carrying close was so much better than name brand. We use the library once a week for movies and books. We cut price corners where ever possible.

My splurge is going to thrift stores, actually. I have 3 or 4 I go to frequently - probably a different one each week. I told DH he'd rather have me shop thrift stores weekly than shop Bloomingdale's weekly... LOL

Oh Judy, I go thrifting usually 2-3x a week or more as well but I see that as frugal shopping Like you said-it's better then spending tons of money at Bloomingdale's!

For just myself I'd say my car, manicure & pedicure 2-3 times a month, my hair. I think a luxury I have is not being paranoid about whats in the bank because we're doing great financially.

My luxury Items? It is more of an item..My car. I just got some new rims for my car, I need to still get new tires and an alignment which should be about 500 more dollars.
(the alignment is free though, it's awesome being a girl and knowing people in town) LOL

I am a tomboy, I am to lazy to shave/pluck, do my hair and other stuff LOL. Take me hunting/camping and I am good

wait internet is a luxury too, I can't live without it.

Honestly, I really don't have any luxury items on a regular basis. I guess my computer might be considered my luxury item but I really see it as a necessity since my classes are online. If we really had to save money I could live without it if I weren't in school.

It's been a long hard road(we started out with $400 and no place to live), but we worked very hard to get to this point. It definitely feels nice. I grew up poor so I feel very greatful that we're doing well.

My DP, definitely! I don't care how broke we are, DP is ALWAYS in the grocery list. I may have to ration them out to make it to the next payday, but I do buy them. And my ciggies. Other than that, I don't do things unless we can afford them, like my nails and eyebrows.

I will never give up my breakfast unless absolutely necessary. I have a good, luxury breakfast 5 days a week. The yogurt is the best part - you can make it yourself.. take a cup, pour Neilson strawberry yogurt until the cup is half filled, put organic blackberries, rasberries and blueberries until the cup is filled 3/4. Fill the rest with Quaker granola with almond slivers.... warning: you will get addicted... and it's healthy for you!

lol Vanessa!! Same here girl, im a Burberry purse freak!! My purses, internet, starbucks every morning, i feel bad Raymond bought me my own expresso machine etc and I still go to starbucks every morning, lol. shampoo too! if i buy generic it makes me feel like i have plastic on my hair. oo and bras.


things i can live without.. getting my nails done. they wont last very long!! with all the cleaning and stuff i do with my childcare theyre bound to chip or get all ruin. i do need a pedicure bad! i love being barefooted.
