Dad: School Had No Right To Do Pregnancy Test

NEVADA CITY, Calif. -- The father of a 13-year-old girl who claims a school counselor forced her to take a pregnancy test said he wishes school officials would have contacted him first with their concerns.

IF this is true, then school counselor was so far out of line it's ridiculous. But I find it really hard to believe. Any counselor HAS to know that can't do that.

Why would it matter to the counsler? Is there rumor an adult is involved? Are her/their grades suddenly dropping? Did someone file rape charges?

I think the first step wouild be to tell the parents and discuss options. Get the police if needed. But under no circumstances test at/through school. Suggest, if needed, to go to the health department.

This wasn't the only girl this happened to. I understand the rumors kids throw around these days are really vicious. It doesn't mean they are true. If anything, the counselor should have dragged in the kids spreading these rumors or given the whole class a lesson on how rumors hurt people, bullying, etc.

"no pregnancy tests on school grounds" Um.. how hard is it to go to the local dollar store and pick one up? IF this happened, and because of where I grew up, I can see it happening.. then I hope the counselor loses his jon and any hope of ever working in another school. And i hope the principal gets the boot too.
