Baby Arrival & your Mom

My Mother delivered me 7 days early and my brother 10 days early and she had fast labors with both of us. Anyone notice any similarities between your Mom and your baby arrival dates and labor duration?

Re: Baby Arrival & your Mom

Actually, I read the man determines the length of pregnancy. My dh was a month later. Both my girls were really late. My labors were nothing like my mother's, then again, she takes asprin for the pain of a papercut, so she tends to exaggeration. Who knows what the truth is with her?

Re: Baby Arrival & your Mom

Nope. My Mom had c-sections with both of us!

Mine were fairly quick.... 12 hrs and 6 hrs. I had an epidural so I was all good.....
My sister was really quick on her deliveries...... 3 hrs, then 1 1/2 hrs.... My youngest nephew was born just as they got to the delivery room. Yikes. They teased my sister that if she was going to have any more they'd probably be born in the car!

we were all late for my mom - but quick deliveries.

Mine were all early (not counting Stu cause who knows with him ) and fairly quick deliveries.

Re: Baby Arrival & your Mom

Well from what I heard I was 2 weeks early and my moms water broke 10 days prior to having me.

She didn't go to the dr until she had contractions on May 28th... so I was born a dry dry baby... good news is she gotta have a baby for her birthday!

You all have crushed my hopes in delivering a little early, sigh... oh well! Looks like I may be in for at least 47 more days after all!

Re: Baby Arrival & your Mom

Like Lenora, my mom tended to exaggerate everything, so I don't really know. My sister was late, I believe, and I have no idea about her labor because she was in twilight sleep for most of it. I was about a month early (my mom was a smoker, and I am sure almost 40 years ago, she smoked during pregnancy), and I can't remember what she said about labor with me, but I think it was pretty quick.
Emily was a week late and I was in labor 17.5 hours before having an emergency c-section. Travis was a scheduled c-section, so no labor or anything.
I would say my sister and I are most similar in our pregnancies and labor experiences. She had to have an emergency c-section, too.
It's like Liz said, they stay in until they are ready to come out, and as long as your doctor is monitoring you, then you should not really worry about it. Except I know you are anxious to see and hold your baby, and you are ready to not be pregnant anymore. We all remember those days!
