TUSCUMBIA, Mo. — Missouri barely waited for President Barack Obama to sign the $787 billion stimulus package before it started using the money Tuesday for construction on what was believed to be the nation's first stimulus-fueled project.

Normally, The Trucker is not a news source that passes through my radar, but they had the best article on this bridge story. It sounds like good news for MO, potientially 14,000 new jobs (from the highway construction package altogether not just this one project). Not too shabby.
What I was really trying to find out though was if one of the bridges they were replacing would be the one across the Mississippi River to Cairo, IL. I drove over that bridge with a tow in '97. It was so narrow and so rusted out, I thought we would fall through for sure. I'm sure it hasn't been replaced since then. Hey, Gov. Nixon! Replace that bridge! I'm sure he can hear me.
