What word or phrase would you erase?

...from your child's vocabulary?

Is there a certain word or phrase that your child is using lately that drives you up a wall?

I think Brenna got it from a cartoon, but there are times that I'll ask (or tell) her to do something and she'll cross her arms over her chest and with a sneer on her face say "Never!". I would love to "never!" here that from her again.

With Zach it isn't so much the word, but the way he uses it. It's "momma". I don't mind being called "Momma" but when I hear it screamed across the house 50 times a day, it makes me want to scream. It doesn't matter where I am or what I'm doing ... It's "MOM-a" yelled over and over until I respond.

Haley over uses tons of words ... "stupid", "like", "Oh my God", and "Um" are some of the most irritating. The worst of it is that she can't get to a point. When she asks me something I have to sit through 10 mins of ...
"Oh my God, Um mom, *pause* Do you remember that stupid guy I told you about who, like, said that my hair was ugly?" "Well, um, like, I ran into him again today when I was walking home from school and Oh my God he is so mean *pause* but um, he said that he saw Dallas at the library. *pause* And that reminded me and I was like wondering if um ... "Do you have to work tomorrow?" Ok, cuz, um, me and Dallas have this project we're working on for science class ... well Cassandra is supposed to too but I already know she can't ... but, um, I wanted to know if tomorrow I could like go to the library if um, I promise to be home by *pause* What time does Zach's bus come?"

The only thing that is coming to mind right now is the eye rolling. She's only 7 and does it constantly...the worst part is I know she got it from me!

This was the first thing I thought of. I just can't stand the whiny "Momma!" or when they yell it like the world is ending and all they want is more Lucky Charms!
I also can't stand the use of "like." But Emily and Travis don't do that yet.

Re: What word or phrase would you erase?

The "Never!" must be from some show because Tori and Devan both say that all the time. And I can't stand "Oh my God" or "What the" either!

Re: What word or phrase would you erase?

"What tha ".. yeah hate that. And.. Ian has decided to use the word Certainly lately. And only half the time does he use it correctly.

Um and Like.. and Oh the kid next door, Ian's best friend uses tuh instead of To and that drives me nuts when Ian does it.

Re: What word or phrase would you erase?

" WHATEVER" is one of many that comes to mind right now.
Also, if I ask the kids to pick up their shoes off the floor ( usually right where people can trip on them) I get-- you do it!!! That really grates on my nerves!!!

Geez, Ally does this too and it just drives me bonkers. Just get to the point already! I am constantly telling her to stop and think about exactly what she wants to say and then come and talk to me. She does this in everything she talks about to the point where some days I don't even want to talk to her cause I know it's going to take forever! *bad mommy*

Drew says all kinds of thigns I don't like. Crap is a biggie, as is "What the.." He curses, too, which a lot of his friends do. Not in my house, tho. I told Drew I'm going to start putting tobasco on his tongue when I hear him cursing. Rick and I got into a tiff the other night and Drew told him he was being an @sshole! Rick threw a bottle of mustard at him. *sigh* There is way too much testosterone in my house.

But my absolute 2 biggest things are whining (Ally does this all the time) and not speaking correctly. I simply tell them that if they can't talk right, then don't talk at all. Then I ignore them until they say it correctly.

Brenda, Zach is a big whiner too ... it's got to be the age. I can't understand him half the time.
