I don't know if I will ever leave Brenna unattended while she is eating again.
I made her lunch and because she is almost 3 years old, didn't think anything of putting her up at the table and leaving the room. Not 30 seconds after sitting down at the computer to check my email I heard a choking noise from the kitchen. I ran back in there and Brenna was sitting at the table, drool running down her chin, eyes wide, and making gurgling noises in the back of her throat. I thought she had just taken something down the wrong way and patted her on the back a few times before realizing something was seriously wrong. I scooped her up and put her over my knee and could feel her abdomen sinking in and out violently. I hit her on the back a few times and then scooped my finger in the back of her mouth (I KNOW you aren't supposed to do that! but I was in a panic) and popped out a meatball from the can of chef boyardee mini-bites. The whole ordeal probably didn't last a minute or two but it felt like a lifetime.
Afterwards she seemed fine and wanted to eat her lunch so I chopped all the remaining meatballs into 4ths (a bit extreme) and sat with her while she finished.
