Have you ever thought about having twins??

Just wandering. Have you ever thought about having twins? Or mulitplies of any kind?

Has it ever came up in talking with your DH/SO? What does he think about it??

When I was pregnant, I never thought it could be twins. Now that Camryn needs entertained, I wished she were a twin. When our niece comes over, they occupy each other. All I have to do is watch.

I think about having twins from time to time.....and I tease Peter that we are going to have 3....and he says "OK...we'll just take everything out of the computer room (it's bigger then the nursey) and line up three cribs down there." Watch at us have to do it! I hope NOT!!!!

I always wanted twins, but after having just one, I figure God knew what he was doing!!

Now that I've got "experience" I once again think it would be neat to have twins. Makes for a quicker way to have a big family!!

I have also wanted twins and Jason says he would like them as well. It doesn't really run in either of our families. But with the Clomid the chances are upped a little (10%). So, who knows?

My husband and I want twins SO bad. And whenever my sister talks about me being PG she always refers to it as them ( twins)
so I really hope that when I get PG I have twins and with the injections I know that my chances are higher. Two of my friends are PG with twins. Both conceived with IUI's
So My fingers are crossed for Twins.

Twins...

I am in line to have twins on my mom's side and my dad's side. Who knows if it will happen. It would be overwelming at first I think but I will be glad to have any children.

We've thought about it. I've always been facinated with twins. I know it runs in both my side and dh's side of the family and some say it runs in families your more prone to have twins if you have them in your family. My mother gave birth to twins, my second cousins are twins and dh's father was a twin. So when I have my first ultrasound I asked if there were one or two.

I'd love to have twins espically now that I lost my first. Now I want 3 children and that means I would have to be pregnant 4 times and have 4 C sections. That'll be hard on my body. I know raising twins would be so hard and finacially harder on us.

If anybody wants to know what it is like having twins, pm me, I don't want to be accused of ruining so many ppl's illusions

I wouldn't mind having twins! But I'll be happy with one child for now. We'll see

Gary and I think about it all the time because it is a very real possibility for us.

For us, twins would be a double blessing, although most people act like it is the worst thing that could ever happen.
Heather, it is most definatly not "the worst thing that could ever happen" but it is very different from a singleton, with 6.5 yrs between births I experienced both and there are different blessings with each circumstance

Maree,
That comment was not directed towards you at all!
Last weekend Gary's aunt said "Oh my God! You're going to have twins!" And she said it with a look of horror on her face.

A couple of months ago, someone told me that they watched a television program about fertility drugs and she said "You are going to have 8 babies, and then you will be sorry that you did this." When I told her that the majority of women who take fertiltiy drugs have single births, she didn't believe me. She said "Well, you will at least have twins, and when you do I'll say 'I told you so'. "

Practily everyone who knows that I take injections tell me that I'm going to have twins and they feel sorry for me. What they don't understand is that Gary and I have been trying to have a child for 8 years. I put my body through heck, and we have spent thousands of dollars just to have a small chance to become parents. If we become pregnant with twins, it's a blessing.

Again, my comment was not directed towards you.

Cool, sorry must be hypersensitive

I am sorry you have been getting such silly reactions from people, Having twins is different from having singletons but I would imagine that it would be the best thing for you, 2 children literally for the price of one has to be a bonus

Then you wouldn't need those nasty injections anymore

So...... a boy and a girl, 2 girls, 2 boys or who cares as long as they are both healthy. I figure if we get the order in early you have more chance of getting what you want

LOL!
Of course, as long as they are healthy!

I just found out from my cousin Richard that twins do indeed run in our family. In fact, his grandpa was a twin. I did not know that before. Of course, I have heard of people with no history of twins in the family having them. The first thing I thought when I read this, well, I would have to make another nursery set - not matching but similiar. I think I have some fabric in mind. That was it.

My big concern with twins would be not dressing them alike and allowing them to become their own person not sibling clones. I guess, I would be spending a lot of time e-mailing Maree!
and you would be welcome

That was my biggest worry too Grace the sibling clone thing, no probs there, altho my life would be so much quieter if we had 1 dominent twin and 1 passive twin I am so glad for both their sakes that they are both dominent personalities. No sign of passivity anywhere, which is much healthier for them, especially as adults (of course they have to live that long and some days that is in grave doubt - if they don't kill each other I'll do it for them - Joking honest

Let's see. My grandpa on my dad's side was a twin. There are several sets of twins on my mom's side. And DH has twins in his family, too. So, who knows.... It didn't happen the first time around, but it's always possible.

Fraternal twins are the hereditary ones, identicals just turn up (I think it is 6 per thousand births). In places like Japan where twins were considered unlucky (middle ages here) and usually disposed off b4 they could spread the bad luck around the fraternal twin rate is extremely low, some places in africa where it was considered good luck (middle ages again) the twinning rate is around 48%. But the identical rate stays the same world wide.

Fratenal twins is based purely on the mothers side, so your husbands side can pass it down to your daughters but not cause you to have fraternal twins. That is caused only when the mother 'drops' 2 eggs and both are fertilised (sperm is clever but I don't think it has figured out how to get those multiple eggs off the balcony )

Which are your boys?
We think they are fraternal but a lot of people mistake them for identical
post #23 of 26
I would love to have twins! What a blessing that would be!!
There are some days I would gladly give them away, so send me your address so next time I am ready
