Two year old with huge seperation anxiety

My dd has never even been to a sitter, but if I even go to the bathroom without her getting very upset. Today, she had a level 10 meltdown because I took Kate with me to a sidewalk sale and she had to go with dad. She started screaming, "Mommy doesn't love me!" Just because I shopped for about 10 minutes or less without her. Thank goodness I brought her back a little toy or she would have been worse. She could even see me from the car.

Isn't 2 a little old for this kind of sevre seperation anxiety?

No I think that is a normal age for sep. anxiety. And if you've never left her she could have it for quite some time. It isn't uncommon for sep. anxiety clear up until a child goes to kindy.

Jaedyn sometimes can't eat her lunch/dinner without me sitting next to her. She's 2 1/2 been in daycare for over a month and has just now begun to adjust. Prior to daycare she was only ever with grandparents.

Not if being left by mommy isn't something she is used to.

Thanks everyone! I thought maybe it was an autism thing that she had to be attached to my side all the time.

Lenora, Ally is 8 and I still don't get to go to the bathroom by myself. I have had to start locking the bathroom door to get some privacy. Heck, even the dogs walk in on me!

No. Separation anxiety is very normal with this stage. At the age of two toddlers are known for their tantrums.
