Napping

At what age did your children stop taking naps?

Gracie just turned 3 and is still a really good napper. She sleeps from about 1:30 - 3:30 every afternoon. She wakes early though at around 7:30 and then isn't put to bed until about 9:30 pm.

I honestly can't remember at what ages my older two stopped napping. I want to say it was younger with Haley than it was Zach.

Re: Napping

Hummm come to think of it, it is only my last son that actually did nap. It was hard to get other two boys to take a nap.

But the good thing is.. they all go to bed early and on time every night.

Re: Napping

There are days that I feel like I could easily do away with the naps if it meant 8:00 bed times. I know from experience on the days that she can't get a nap that she would be an absolute monster in the evenings for a while though.

Re: Napping

Aaron stopped napping at 4 when he had preschool from 9-2:45. (Stupid VPK...) Now he thinks naps are for babies. I so miss the days when he napped. What a nice break for me.

Well in my case, Kimi is so active I was having a hard time to put her to sleep during nap time. Any tips is greatly appreciated.

Re: Napping

It's very healthy for moms to sleep in the afternoon too. lol

Re: Napping

Noah naps like Gracie. Sometimes he doesn't nap until later then gets up right before dinner. My kids are up later in the evening too. Zachariah napped until school got out b/c they had naps in pre-k4. He just turned 5 and will sometimes crash after camp. If we're home I make him rest and read a book or play his Leapster while laying down in the afternoons. He usually doesn't fall asleep. I don't push it b/c they don't nap next year in kindy. He will still fall asleep in the car though.

Re: Napping

My older daughter was a very good sleeper too, Elaine!
2 hour naps, until she was 3 , went to bed by 8, and slept until about 7 or so.

Re: Napping

Brenna's naps have gotten shorter with the summer but she's not waking up until almost 9. Hopefully with school starting and her mornings getting earlier, she'll be back to her two hour naps ... I know the babysitter would appreciate it.
