What are the Obstetric policys on this matter does anyone know??

Just curious I was told by the nurse at my prenatel appointment yeasterday that I would have "NO CHOICE" but to have a tubal ligation done after this cesarean ( it will be my 3rd) due to the fact that New York State will only allow you 3 c-sections because that is what is considered "Safe" anymore than 3 becomes a "Risk". And that if I did not do the Tubal Ligation if I should end up pregnant again no hospital in the State will take care of me. I was also told they NO LONGER tie your tubes in the U.S.A they only cut and burn them now. How true is that I dont know....She also tells me I am at greater risk of Uterine Rupture due to the fact I just had a c-section 7 and a half months ago to the day and you are suppossed to wat the recommeded year because of the risks of something going wrong...Proceeding to tell me I can end up "Bleeding out" and possibly lose my child and myself in the process.
Please whoever has soe insight on this help me out here. Thank you once again.

I am not to sure, but I know you don't HAVE to have another c-section after your first. VBAC! I was told I could have a Normal birth next time around if there wasn't any complications. Since it is a military hospital there are tons of anesthesiologists around

Well my oldest two children were both Vaginal births pregnancy # 3 th twins were by emergancy c-section due to the fact I went into premature labor at 34 weeks and Twin A as they call it in the medical field was positonedfootling breech...They say out here in New york State that if you have had a C-section reguardless of the fact you had vaginal births before you can no longer go for a natural birth due to the fact that it is a high risk of complications so they just opt for a continuation of the cesareans..They said that it is # 1 the rules of the Board of obstetrics and gynecology and # 2 its the states law and # 3 its all hospitals within the state of New Yorks Policys.

Wow. I have no clue but that just doesn't sound logical or lawful IMO. I would definitely google the laws and such! Good luck!

KJBBDOLL............I love you woman...lol I looked it up for the state of Ny and found out that alot of drs and hospials opt to do repea cesareans because its considered " safer" but ultimatly its the womans constitutional right to chose how she wants to give birth and the obgyn/hospital/ etc...can all be taken to court if they state otherwise I found it all on the A.C.L.U site.

I know very few women who had under gone 4 th c-section deliveries, its usually considered risky. I think u should think about u r health first before opting for any such decisions. But there are other states where it is lawful to have this procedure done.
