Bad Rotavirus going around

My family has had an especially bad rotavirus this week. It is hitting hard in my area. The vaccine is only for kids under one year and only lasts a year.

Here are the symptoms:

Crazy vomitting (my nurse practitioner's term not mine)
Watery, bright green, acid diarrehha
Fever
Muscle aches
Headache

The big D can go on for several days. Alchol will not kill it. Only clorine (bleach) kills it. Regular alchol based hand sanitizer will not kill it. Use GermEX or clorine based hand sanitizer frequently. Trust me. You do not want this. We have all been sick since last Friday and the kids are no where near well. Kate is still vomitting.

Unfortunately, you do not build up much immunity to this one. After a couple of months, you can get it back again. Immunity to this one only lasts 2 or 3 months. Adults get it the same as kids. According to all the many drs I have seen in the last couple of days, rotavirus season is only just beginning and this looks to be a really bad year.

What about probiotics? I wonder if taking a super dose would help fight off the bug....I feel for you and your family. Seems like you're doing all the right things.

Supposedly, they sell probotics OTC for kids, but I haven't been able to find them here.
