fussy baby

Well Jerren is a great kid never cries or is very fussy, well since yesterday he has been very very fussy he cries and cries and almost everything I do doesn't sooth him. Baths help but I do those at night. I feed him which makes it better for a bit but oh my he is just fussing all day long, yesterday he didn't nap at all and woke up more then normal last night. I am thinking he is going through a growth spurt since he is 3 months but is this normal? Should I go to the dr to make sure everything is ok? I have noticed he is pulling at his left ear a bit, but not a lot.

Re: fussy baby

Babies go through stages where they are content and then suddenly they are not. It IS normal HOWEVER, trust your instincts ... if you think something may be wrong, call your doc.

Re: fussy baby

I agree with Elaine. Also, when my kids went through growth spurts they ate and slept more. Could it be gas? He could have a bubbly tummy and need some Mylacon or something to help settle it.

Re: fussy baby

Check his tummy. If it feels hard, then he has gas. If he continues pulling at his ear, he may have an ear infection and needs to go tot he doc. But it could just be a growth spurt. too. Ally STILL gets cranky and grumpy when she's going thru a growth spurt. SHe literally gets "growing pains". Usually a bit of kid's tylenol helps alot.

Re: fussy baby

Yea, his tummy is soft I did check that first, he pulls at his ear a little bit which of course worries me. when he has his bath time I give him what I call floaty time, I hold his head above the water and let him float and he loves it, but sometimes water does get in his ears which I try to get out if it happens. So I hope it isn't an ear infection.

He has had growth spurts before but never was fussy, just hungry and sleepy. Lets see how he is today.

Re: fussy baby

Since you are breastfeeding, did you eat something new or something you haven't had in a long time? Maybe something didn't agree with his belly. Beans or broccoli can sometimes have that effect.

Re: fussy baby

Is he feeling any better today? Still pulling on his ears or being fussy?

You know, it occurs to me that sometime even babies just have a bad day. Maybe (hopefully) that's all it is. Maybe he got up on the wrong side of the crib?

Re: fussy baby

He has been all smiles and is MUCH better, still messing with his little ear but he isn't fussy anymore.

LOL maybe he did get up on the wrong side of the crib
