Looking for age appropriate clothes for Ally

Ally has my really long legs and her dad's super long torso. I am having alot of trouble finding clothes to fit her that don't amke her look like an 8 yo tramp! For pants to fit in length, they are sitting WAY to low on her hips. ALL the shirts end up at her midrift, none of them actually make it it her waist unless I get the at least 1 or 2 sizes too big - then they hang on her.

She wears a 7 or 7/8

Re: Looking for age appropriate clothes for Ally

I was the same way as a child and got called some pretty rotten names for my skirts and shorts that always seemed to be too short ... I couldn't help it that I had a child's waist and a woman's legs though.
Have you tried a women's extra small? Aeropostale I know makes that size and most of their shirts have a longer length ... I wear a lot of them because I feel secure knowing I'm not going to show off my post baby belly when I raise my arms. As for pants ... I don't know what to tell you other than hope her shirts come down long enough to hide how low the rise is.

Re: Looking for age appropriate clothes for Ally

I'm with Elaine having the same problem growing up. My pants were ALWAYS too SHORT. Still today I have a hard time finding shirts that are long enough as well as pants. The baby doll shirts tend to be longer or the ones that usually would be worn with the tights. Cropped pants and capri's always work well for me.

Leggings usually work for length and I can find some jeans in the right length, It's getting them to actually come up to her waist that is the problem. Guess I'm just gonna have to keep looking. It's such a pain!

Brenda, check out Target, Kmart, and JC Penney's. They all have a pretty good selection of Bermuda shorts in Ally's size and most of their shirts--especially at Target and Penney's--are really long. Emily is in this size, and most of the shirts I have found look so long on her, so maybe they will be a good length on Ally!

With "low-rise" being in style right now, you are going to have a tough time finding jeans to come up to her waist. I know Old Navy still makes higher rise jeans but other than that you may just have to check out the goodwills in your area for older styles.

Re: Looking for age appropriate clothes for Ally

No Kmarts around here, but we do have Penney's and Target. Hoping to avoid the more expensive palces because she is HARD on clothes. Worse than Drew ever was. i tend to buy at Target and Walmart casue they are cheaper, so it's not such a big deal when she tears them up.

Elaine, I have been checkingout the local Goodwill Select store and KCM (another christian store) Hard to find things, or to find the time to go thru all the racks. So far I have gotten her a few tank tops (her fave in the summer) and ONE pair of shorts. *sigh* I have really long legs (36 inch inseam) for being 5'7, so I get that part. But WHY in the world would manufacturers make "low-rise" pants/shorts for elementary school kids? She is 8, NOT 18!

I know ... but it's almost all you can find now.

How does she feel about skirts with leggings underneath?

Re: Looking for age appropriate clothes for Ally

She says she gets too hot in warm weather. We did this for winter, tho, and it worked well. Plus, she looked adorable. Just gonna have to keep looking, I guess.
