Jerren's first taste of cereal

So just a bit ago I gave jerren super milked down cereal, at first he made is ucky face then started slurping it down, I only gave him about a baby spoon full in total ( only a few drops were put on the spoon at a time) He will be 4 months this friday.

I don't really plan on doing cereal that often until he is 6 months but since he is always smacking at me while I eat I thought it was be time to try to give him something else.

How much should a baby eat for their first time trying cereal?

Re: Jerren's first taste of cereal

I started my kiddos at 3mo with infant cereal. They didn't eat much at first but by 6mo they were eating a small bowl full. As they get older you can add fruit, cinnamon, or syrup to add flavors.

OK cool, thanks. I was wondering if I was the only one starting him on cereal so young.

Re: Jerren's first taste of cereal

I started Rach at about 2 or 3 months because I didn't know any better, but the boys I waited until they were about 6 months. Lucas has never had cereal, that stuff is nasty and is really just empty calories. He started with avocado, but his favorite by far is potatoes! He eats whatever we eat except for meat.

Neither of mine would eat it.

So if I start with avocado how do I get organic avocados? I have never seen those at the store. Did you water it down or just kept it the normal consistency?

I just mash it up as much as I can, or you could puree it I guess, just add a tiny bit of water. Mashing will be easier though.

Re: Jerren's first taste of cereal

Yeah I think (or at least hope) Drs know better now that 2 meals a day at 4 months is way too much. Solids aren't really recommended until 6 months. Lucas is almost 9 months old and still only gets 1 meal a day, but I do give him a little snack. He's breastfed so he gets plenty of nutrition
