Mirena: Year 5, IUD #2

Okay, so as of June 22, 2009 I had my IUD for 5 years.

Yesterday it finally came out. It was a little uncomfortable to have taken out, and I thought the worst was over.

WRONG. SO, TERRIBLY WRONG.

My cervix is tight. Closed. Not coming in there ever, super glued, duct tape, never opening up again tight. Therefor the need for SEVERAL different sizes of metal cervical dialators was needed.

The last thing I remember is hearing Dr H say "its in" and then i was OUT cold. I guess I took as much of the pain as I could handle and just passed out. It was really rough. I've given birth twice, naturally. This pain was different.

I told Dr H at the end of my appointment, that in 5 years we're going to figure something else out. I can't do that again. He kind of giggled, and shook his head as if he agrees with me.

Anyone else have such a rough 2nd time around?
My first time around was a breeze.. but he did say that it was because I had just had a baby 4 weeks prior, and that I had some scar tissue build around the old IUD.

That sucks. I never felt mine come out when I had it removed. I'm a big baby, if it were me I would have said no way

Now, I am really glad I had my tubes tied! That sounds awful. I have found there are plently of things just as painful as giving birth. For example, I have totally sympathy for anyone with a long term back injury especially once arthritis sets in.

I'm a believer that while there is no pain quite like giving birth, it's not the most painful thing you can experience.
