Trying this again

Thread Starter
I put on some weight over the past year and a half (15lbs) and have recently decided I was going to give weight loss another try. I get really excited with the idea of losing weight/getting back in shape but then usually don't follow through.
Two weeks ago I gave up my fast food lunches at work and have been packing healthy and so far I have lost 3lbs!! ... and yesterday I made the decision to try and start drinking water again.
My goal is 6 more lbs by the end of September ... I want to go into the cold an depressing season in the best shape I can because I know there is always a few lb gain over the winter.

Has anyone else jumped back on the weight loss wagon?

Re: Trying this again

I just started but am kinda limited right now since I can't really exercise yet. Just trying to make healthier choices food wise and getting a little exercise here and there by walking. In a few weeks I will start back at the gym. I really want to get back on track before the holidays because I tend to gain a lot between Oct and Jan. As of right now I have 23pnds to lose. Could be worse I guess since I gained 55pnds while preggo with PJ.

Sounds like you are on the right track Elaine Fast food and soda are the two biggest things that will have you gain weight. You can do it!!

Re: Trying this again

I have been reading a book on compulisive eating and following the instructions. So far, I have lost about 8 lbs in the last couple of months. Right now, I am not doing anything until I am entirely over the swine flu.

Re: Trying this again

After losing over 50 pounds in the last year and a half, I managed to gain almost 10 of it back. While I refuse to give up my Dr. Peppers (since that and water are about all I drink), I have cut back. I'm trying to drink more water, but I can't stand tap water here (chlorine) and buying it right now just isn't an option. I get it when I can, tho.

Since my digestive tract has been acting screwy lateluy, I've really been watching what I eat. I've always been pretty good about eating healthy foods (since I'm not fond of swets), but portion control is hard when you have 3 guys in the house who can easily eat a 12 to 16oz piece of meat without blinking. If I don't make enough, then I get yelled at. But I make too much, then I eat too much and end up throwing food away. *sigh*

I don't exercise. Period. Don't even suggest it. Bad back, pinched nerves, blah, blah, blah..... I do walk during the school year and swim in the summer, tho. What I need are food choices that will fill the guys up but are still healthy. Hard to do with all the different appetites and medical conditions around here.

Damn! It really sounds like I am complaining and I don't mean to. I have managed to lose 5 of what I gained. Working ont he rest. It's a challenge, but I sure do like the way I look and feel a whole lot more without all the extra weight!
