Boston hack almost takes blame for forgotten child

BOSTON – A family picked up by a taxi at the airport left a sleeping 5-year-old child behind in the back of the minivan — and the cabbie almost took the blame for it.

I fail to see how this is the cabbie's fault. A child is not an umbrella or a wallet. You don't just forget you brought them. Instead of investigating the cabbie, they should be investigating the parents for being total morons. I don't know of anyone forgetting their child in a cab. It is so rare, it makes the national news.

No kidding. When you have a child, you, the PARENT, are responsible for them - not the cabbie or anyone else for that matter.

What is the first thing you take out of your car? Your kids! At least, when I get out, I get the kids out first and see them safely inside. Then I go back for groceries or whatever. And I have never seen anyone do anything else.

Wow ... what a story.

Have any of you ever had that "where is my child" panic when you didn't even have them in the first place? I do that all the time but never forget that I DO have them with me.

Yeah, Elaine! I have done that a hundred times, thinking "Where is Ally?", then remembering that she is at home or at a friends. But NEVER have I forgotten one of my children int he car. They are ALWAYS the first thing that comes out of the car.
