But I am so darn FRUSTRATED I am not working and I feel like the medical bills NEVER end.
I am going NUTS! I feel like we get 3 steps ahead and then go backwards! I have to come up with over $700 by the 19th. I have NO clue how I am going to do it.

Re: I am sure I am not the only one

I use to work for the baptist health systems, I am not sure how long ago the doctor visit was but we usually didn't send them to a collection agency until 90 days. Do they offer settlements? We would offer HUGE settlements on some accounts. Might wanna talk to them. Also you can try to get a financial aid for from the hospital if they offer them since you don't have a job.

I just got a bill 2 days ago for Jerren's shots he got at his 4 month appointment and OMG that stuff is expensive, I have never paid or seen a bill for any of our hospital visits so this one was a surprise, I think I am more agitated because I called the people and they still haven't called me back, they should be billing my insurance instead of me!

Good Luck hun!

Find out the laws regarding medical bills in your state. In mine, delinquent medical bills cannot go on your credit report.

Re: I am sure I am not the only one

It was my understanding that medical bills can't be used against you for credit check purposes in ANY state, but they can be listed on your credit report. I refuse to believe that they won't work with you. There has to be something that they can do. Keep calling and go for the supervisors/managers. At the very least, they should be willing to set up a payment plan.

Re: I am sure I am not the only one

There is a 60 day policy the only thing that saved us from paying this is that I had surgery and they could look it up and see that so they gave me 60 days from August 19th. That is still not long to come up with the money. This hospital is the ONLY one that doesn't have a payment plan option all the others as long as it is $50 a month is fine. This one sends you over to TSF a finance company after 60 days at 20% interest. Its nuts they do not work with the community

Re: I am sure I am not the only one

wow that is really strange that they don't work with people especially since the economy is goin down.

This one lady racked up a bill of 150k all she had to pay was like 80k... Now that is a settlement!

Also a lot of times the hospital bill for things you never got soooo you might wanna try asking for an itemized bill.

Or they will try to collect several times on a bill you already paid and you end up paying the same bill over and over. In my experience, they do not return the numerous overcharges either.

Re: I am sure I am not the only one

ugggg How annoying. AMEX kept running my payments TWICE so finally I just stopped paying them because they wouldn't refund the money they took out without authorization.

Re: I am sure I am not the only one

Simonne, look up the debt laws in your state. In every state I've ever heard of, if you send them payments, and they accept them, then they have in essence accepted a payment plan from you. Of course, they CAN return the payment (has a CC do this to me), but it is rare. Check the laws.
