Not for him, but for his BFF, Kaylee. She is starting HS this year and is convinced that IT will happen this year and wants to be prepared. Since He had to get it from his father or I, he had to ask for it. I have no problems giving him (or his friends) one. But I did point out that I'm available if she needs to talk. Told to Drew make sure to tell her that she needs to be in a long term (meaing a year or more) relationship before she even thinks about going all the way.
Drew informed me earlier this summer he is no longer a virgin. Glad he felt he could tell me (and yes, he used a condom(, but I still wish he had waited.
I'm not sure I'm ready for this!

I'm glad he felt comfortable asking you. I don't know what the health Dept. rules are in TX, but in WV, they will give you all the condoms you could ever image using for free with your annual check up. When you talk to Kaylee, maybe you could mention that it would be a good idea or her to get a female exam and talk to her dr about birth control before starting a physical relationship with a guy.

We've always been able to talk about sex, the good and the bad. We're VERY open about this and I'm glad my mom was the same way. I know I didn't talk to her as much as I probably should have, but it was always nice to know I COULD, no matter the subject matter. I find it hard to believe in this day and age that some parents still don't talk to their kids about this stuff. I realize it can be tough, but to NOT talk to them considering what is out there? Can't even fathom that.
