Grrr ... covered in rashes again.

Lenora knows what I'm talking about...

I am head to toe broken out in fungal rashes again. It's so frustrating that I can't seem to beat them for good. Right now I have a patch on my ankle, both elbows, and my hip. It's got to be this hot, humid weather.
I use all the creams and powders and eat yogurt like it's going out of style but nothing seems to help for very long.

Re: Grrr ... covered in rashes again.

Yes, I do. I have been a magnet of fungal infections since I was a little kid. None of the OTC creams work for me anymore. I just have to go to the dr if they get too big now. I don't know if you have insurance, but steriodal creams are the only thing that work for me now.

How can you tell they're fungal?

Re: Grrr ... covered in rashes again.

They are red, flakey and they itch. They all look sort of like ringworm only ringworm is nearly always circular and other similar fungal infections do not necessarily conform to a specific shape. You can get them almost anywhere you have skin including under your nails. I have never had one in my nose or ear canal, but I wouldn't rule those out either.

I've had it in my nose before following a sinus infection. It's horrid in the nose! I guy friend of mine gets it on his back.

Yuck! Did they give you a spray for that Karen?

Re: Grrr ... covered in rashes again.

Hmm I wonder if the rashes on my feet are fungal. They are red, thick, and itchy, and a couple of my toenails are yellow and one almost fell off! I need to get some Lamisil I reckon.

Re: Grrr ... covered in rashes again.

That sounds like fungal infection. If you soak your feet in plain old Listerine (the original not the ones with added flavor. The off brand works as well.) for 10 minutes a day for a couple of months, it will clear up that toe nail fungal infection as well as taking the yellow out almost immediately. Toe nail infections take forever to heal. don't be surprised if it takes several months.

That definitely sounds fungal Becca. I have a toenail infection that has been with me for quite some time now ... really persistant!

Nothing is working for me yet ... still extremely itchy ... not to mention ugly looking.

Re: Grrr ... covered in rashes again.

I bought some Lamisil yesterday and can already tell a difference, so I guess that's what it is. Ugh the itching is HORRIBLE, not even my VERY strong steroids did much to help.

Just be careful when the Lamisil starts to really dry the rash out ... I got thick patches of dry skin that I scratched and picked at until I had sores.

I was going through the same a month ago, it's really very itchy and painful, I can feel what you are going through.

Re: Grrr ... covered in rashes again.

Wouldn't that be eczema?

Re: Grrr ... covered in rashes again.

It depends on where it is. Fungal rashes on the feet can cause thick calluses. If the whole soul of the foot is covered in calluses and itches, it is a fungal infection sometimes called moccasin foot.

Re: Grrr ... covered in rashes again.

I also have eczema and can tell the difference. I tend to get eczema break outs on the exposed areas of my skin while I get fungal rashes more often in sweaty places like my feet or under my breasts. They can look the same though and once in a while I'll treat for the wrong thing ... until I figure out that it isn't working.
