Oops ... dyed my hair black.

The box said "Natural Medium Brown" and the image was of your average brown hair. It's not a true black, and some of my red shows through (just as a red tint) but it's close enough.
I had intended to go medium brown and then had a gold highlight kit to do as well. I don't think I'll be doing the highlights in the black hair though ... I wasn't looking for something drastic and I'm afraid it will turn out that way.
I'm not sure that I don't like it, but it's going to take some getting used to. I was going to post a picture and then realized my camera battery wasn't charged so maybe later.

Have any of you ever had a dye accident? What were you trying for and what did you get?

Re: Oops ... dyed my hair black.

Oh yes, I wanted deepest dark auburn and ended up with dark brown. I wanted highlighted once and ended up with straw for hair and almost white blonde. That is when I stopped dying and decided to live with plain brown.

I remember that Liz!

I haven't had any drastic mess ups, but I had a reddish color not turn out quite right before.

Re: Oops ... dyed my hair black.

Elaine, I bet that it will lighten up in a week or two.
Believe me, I am like Liz-i've screwed up my own dye jobs so many times that I absolutely refuse to do it myself ever again. I happily fork over $120-$140 for highlights and lowlights too but I try to wait as long as possible to get them done. Jen and I are getting a 50% discount this month for 'bringing a friend' so that will help! LOL
I once had BRIGHT red Ronald McDonald hair that I wore in a ponytail forever!

Re: Oops ... dyed my hair black.

I once had a PRO grab the wrong mix and ended up with BLACK hair. Not good on someone as fair skinned as I am. They tried for weeks to fix it. I finaly cut most of it off and just waited for it to grow out. I wouldn't even go out for like 3 weeks it was so bad!

Re: Oops ... dyed my hair black.

eeee I tried adding blond highlights to my hair and I ended up being a blond afterwards! LOL over did it.

My hair has been every color of the rainbow and I am the one that colored my hair all the time but the first time I went to a pro for those highlights oops someone messed up.

I would love to go to a pro, but can't afford it. I do it myself (when I remember! LOL!)

Re: Oops ... dyed my hair black.

Mine's gong gray faster than I can keep up with it, so now I just leave it be.
I wish it would hurry up tho. I'd love to have that gorgeous silver color that Paula Deen has!
