No more Mr. Nice Guy, apparently. Seventy-five percent (75%) of adults say Americans are becoming ruder and less civilized, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

I don't know about that. John Macinroe was pretty darn rude back in the 70s. Entertainers, sports figures and politicians are somewhat known for rude behavior - especially if it keeps them in the spotlight.

I don't think it's necessarily rude to text or talk on a cellphone while driving. I do think it's dangerous. I do not know the new girl downstairs, but according to the sticker on the back of her car, she was good friends with four young ladies who died in an auto accident while the driver was texting. I really don't see what the big deal is about putting the phone away until a person is not driving.

Something really rude I see is women especially talking on a cellphone or texting while they are on a diner date. There the poor guy is staring at his food probably thinking, "I'm right here, b!tch. I can hear you bad mouthing me to your friends." If I can hear it two tables over, the date can definitely hear it.

Re: 75% Say Americans Are Getting Ruder

Reminds me of a job I had working for a skin cancer clinic, I worked from 8am to about 6-7pm and only had a 15 min lunch break and THAT is it, nothing else and we couldn't leave the office during our lunch break we had to eat and we had to eat with the doctor who would buy us lunch everyday.

Well it was my second week there and I was eating and got a call from the hubby to see how I was doing... well the stupid doctor blew up and told me to get off my phone NOW and then got up threw his food away and stormed out of the room... I guess he found it rude to talk while we were all eating lunch. Honestly I didn't see a problem with it because we only had 15 min during the day for lunch and I don't know what the problem was, with me getting to talk to my husband. Now that I think of it I was the only married female that worked there.... I think I lost my job because I didn't put out and get drunk with the doc like the other girls did LOL.....

But yes I hate people that text/talk and drive ugggggggggggg

Lisa, have you guys seen the signs that make it illegal to drive and tak on your phone in a school zone? Don't know if you have that there, but they just passed it and the signs are everywhere. Problem is, the way the law is written, you could be parked with your car off and if you get on your cell, you can get a ticket! LOL! And the kids can't talk on their phone either! It's supposed to be for those who are driving, but they didn't write it very well.

With the economy the way it is, I'm not surprised. If you're stressed to the max, wondering how you're going to make the next mortgage/rent pmt AND buy food AND pay utilities, something's going to give.
