Cold remedies for young kids

Since my dd has pneumonia, this has come up for us recently. There is just about nothing on the market to help kids from 2 to 6 with colds. I finally found a holistic elixir that is supposed to boost their immune system and help with colds. It works pretty well, but not great. At least, she can sleep some with it.

I understand that the FDA took cough medicines off the shelf for young kids. So what do you give your kids for colds? I tried the old farm remedy of hot tea and honey. That only worked while she was drinking it.

The point is probably moot now since she has antibiotics. But colds will come around again, hopefully, not as bad as this one!

Mucinex cough. It's a liquid cough medicine. We give Travis 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon per his pediatrician. He weighs 41 pounds, so you could probably give this to Cara, just adjust it according to her weight.
