My son is filthy!

Zach is 8 yrs old and is going through a stage where he can't be bothered with baths. He moans and groans and I practically have to drag him into the tub ... it's only happening an average 2 - 3 (at the most!) times a week. yuck! In the morning when I try to get him dressed for school he'll complain about changing his clothes saying "I just put these on the other day".
Did anyone else go through this with their boys? When does it get better? I'm sick of the battles and I'm sick of smelling this kid.

Re: My son is filthy!

Oh yes, Bailey was the same exact way! But no worries...by the time they hit 11 or 12 they start thinking about girls and smelling good and they wanna douse themselves in Axe and take a million showers a week. Heck, my boys even beg me for new mouthwash and toothbrushes now where I could barely get them to brush their teeth before!

Great ... so I only have 3 years left of this? Maybe I can just spray him down with Lysol every night before bed.

Re: My son is filthy!

It's like pigpen! I remember hiding as a child when it came to bathtime and washing my hair. I hated washing my hair with a passion, of course my mom kept it very long like to my waist and it wasn't very managable for a small child. I finally had enough when I was like 10-12 and ask to have it cut off. So I think that Krista is right with the age thing!

Not sure my kids love to shower now and I don't have a problem getting them in the shower you may want to start trying the shower.

I think it's a kid thing. I have the same problem with my oldest. however, once i get her into the tub, it's hard getting her out!

Febreeze, Elaine! Febreee! You can really tell it's getting bad when his room starts smelling - and yes, Drew's room reeked rthere for a while. But Krista has it right, as soon as he discovers girls, its all gonna change. It has taken me over a year to convince Drew that ONE (1) squirt of AXE or TAG is plenty - he doesn't need to bathe in the stuff!

Re: My son is filthy!

Aaron loves baths and showers but he doesn't like to wash his face. He'll finish up and still have ice cream on his mouth. He just doesn't like his face wet, but that's always been the case. Boys...
