Barbies?

At what age did your daughter start playing with Barbies?

Brenna is 3 and a half and seems just on the verge of Barbie madness. She has one doll that when it was new, she carried around for days making it talk to other toys but eventually she put it down and hasn't asked for it or about it since (it's been months). I know she would enjoy getting a few Barbies for Christmas (It's so hard coming up with ideas for her age group) but I'm not sure I'm ready for it.

Re: Barbies?

I'm not sure... I will say that my 6 year old is way more into Barbies than my four year old. Sammie was about 4 1/2 when she really started liking Barbies, Tessa never really cared for them that much. and like I said Karah isn't really that into them yet at 4

Re: Barbies?

I avoided them like the plague for Alyssa. Never wanted her to get them. She got 2 and a car for her 4th birthday - never really played with them (to this day she has never played with them alot. ) Kate on the other hand has ALWAYS played with them and loves to get new ones (although they always end up naked so I don't buy anything too fancy)

I personally think it depends on the child.

Re: Barbies?

I got Kate's first Barbie when she was 5. Her two year old sister plays with them more than she does. I got the Fairy Barbies which are never actually naked, because they have a swimming suit painted on them. I thought Barbie naked was a little too much.

Re: Barbies?

What!?! You don't have NBS (Naked Barbie Syndrome) at your house? You havn't lived until you have to shower with 5 naked Barbies! Ally likes them off and on. Thye all end up naked and in the bathtub. She has fairies, princesses and regular ones. They are all very clean! LOL! Got her first one at about 4, I think. I was MAD for Barbie as a kid, but she can take them or leave them. She's never been huge on dolls in general unless its one I don't want her to have, like the original Bratz dolls. Still won't let her have them. Don't think they portray a good image for a young girl. She'd much rather get a new scooter or skateboard or other outdoor toy.

Re: Barbies?

Our barbies are very clean too. Luckily, they changed the barbie hair since we were kids so her hair isn't a big ugly knot.

Re: Barbies?

It's an off and on thing with Emily too. I'd say she's played with them since she was four or five. She has asked for Moxie Girls for Christmas, though, which are like Barbies.
We have NBS at our house, but it's not because of Emily, it is because of Travis. He sometimes calls the Barbies his girlfriends but he mostly likes to play with the Ariel Barbie in the bathtub.

Re: Barbies?

I've gotten Kiera a couple and she never played with them. She's into horses, my little pony, and cats.

Re: Barbies?

The big things in our house are her kitchen things and her Littlest Pet Shop toys. The problem is, she has mass amounts of those things and I can't possibly get her anymore.

Coloring supplies are the one thing she likes that gets used up and I can get more of.
