Has anyone in your family had swine flu?

With all this insanity surrounding swine flu, I was wondering who all had had it.

My whole family had it twice including all the fun secondary infections. Fun. Not!

My 3 big kids had it a few weeks ago. It wasn't awful, just whiny....

Re: Has anyone in your family had swine flu?

We were never tested for swine flu but did have confirmed "Type A flu". It was about 3 days of a med/high fever (for me that was awful ... I swear I felt delirious) and cold symptoms for 3 - 5 days after that. The cough is still lingering 3 weeks later.

Re: Has anyone in your family had swine flu?

The Dr figures I had it almost 2 weeks ago...I still have the cough and now have cough syrup with codeine so that my lungs can heal. I have irritated my lungs so bad with the coughing that there is blood when i cough.....not a lot, but enough to get me to go to the clinic.....

Not confirmed but I believe Jimmy just got over it. Chills, fever, loss of appetite, super dry non productive cough for about 3-4 days and now the cough is just nasty phelm.

Expectorant helps a lot with that, Karen. We all had that one.

No one has had it (knock on wood) but Drew's girlfriend had it a few weeks ago. She sounded terrible on the phone. Told Drew she wasn't allowed ove until I saw a Dr's note! LOL!

No, but we've had a horrible cold running through our house for almost 2 weeks...it just hit Jerm yesterday. Rach got it first, then me and Lucas. Lots of headaches, chest boogers, congestion and runny noses. Rach and I had earaches, I was a little achy all over. Lucas and Rach started getting better a couple days ago, and I feel a bit better today, but not 100%

Yes, I've been using Mucinex Cough for kids. It does work pretty good.

My nephew and SIL did, but they live over an hour from us.

Not in my house, though!

Re: Has anyone in your family had swine flu?

I had the flu at the peak of H1N1 in July.

I had 2 days of zero appetite and generally feeling low and lethargic. I thought that I was developing a depression.

On the third day fever shot up in the course of the morning, so I went home from work and phoned my doc. She said "you may or may not have swine flu. You are 2 days into the illness, so you should be fine. Take paracetamols and keep us updated if your condition worsens." Another doc said "you have swine flu, because all the virus strains going around now are H1N1"

So for the next 4 days I had aching limbs, fever, I had no appetite and as "meals" I could only stomach fruit smoothie. I slept through most of these days.

Ince I was back to normal I had a vicious cough for about three weeks.

Re: Has anyone in your family had swine flu?

My younger brother had the swine flu. We were able to get him tamiflu right away and that seemed to really help with the symptoms. He was sick for about a week. It seemed a little less severe than I have seen with other flu in the past but it just spread so quickly around his school.
