Desperately need gift ideas for an 8 yr old boy

I'm having the worst time thinking up gifts for my son Zach. He's just not into a wide variety of things and has so many toys all ready that he doesn't play with.
He likes to play his video games (all ready bought him a new DS game), play outside, and draw (has TONS of art supplies). He's not into any sports or specific TV characters right now.
Sooo ... any ideas?

I mentioned this is another post but Jimmy is getting walkie talkies this year. He's also getting paint by numbers and they have this cool remote control mario car 19.99 at Target. His big item is a digital video camera spiderman from TRU, 49.99. It's cool, you can video and play back right on the screen. My mom got him the imaginex dragon castle and some star wars stuff.

Not to mention, I was able to get 1 zhu zhu and the fun house at retail cost at Toys R Us. I had to wait in line Sunday morning for almost 2 hours

Has he expressed an interst in any hobbies? I think the snap together model airplanes(etc) are the easiest. There are also a number of science kits available for a boy his age. I think I was about his age when I made my own mocassins, started leather working and tried wood burning. Not all crafts are girly.

bakugan and star wars is big here. i like a telescope idea, or some manly crafty things. home depot has wood working kits that are pretty cool here. only like 6.00 each

@ Lenora - I looked at some Science kits and thought they might be cool ... he used to be really into the kits where you can "dig" for dinosaur bones and fossils. Maybe I'l have to go look around and craft/activity kits again.

@ Tammy - it's actually Gracie who wants a telescope ... so she can see that Mars is red. She talks about "when I have a space ship" all the time.

also @ Tammy - I hadn't thought of getting him things for the computer ... something I'll have to check out.
